HOLY CRAP! 28 psi boost spike on 91 octane & lives to tell about it.

Well I came close to popping my motor.
During Sunday's dyno tuning with Steve Kan, my wastegate got stuck closed and the engine overboosted to 28 psi according to the Haltech datalog. We were running 91 octane and were certain there was a mistake with the Haltech so we checked the Profec B which read 29.4 lbs.
I have ceramic apex seals and an Aquamist system that runs 66% methanol and 33% water. I'm sure the two of those saved me from another engine build.
Never did get the wastegate problem sorted though so no final numbers.
fwiw, the car made 397rwhp and 392rwtq at around 5300rpm when Steve let off. He has the dyno chart apparently.

that was with the spike.
we only did that one pull as the wastegate problem was there to begin with and was not resolved that day.
I didn't even know about it as the motor was brand new and had only 650 or so miles on it when it went on the dyno and everything worked perfectly with the last setup.

can you program zero fuel in your maps to cause a fuel cut? Even full rich with 85% inj. duty at your peak boost it can still ignite and pop if you spike.

Well, the trick is not being at 85% at your max boost... You should always have enough fuel to spare.... Trust me, I've tried it out.. With 4 1600cc anything over 20lbs is full rich, and it DOES shut down the car completely...

Well by the looks from his sig, he has a 20B, so the torque numbers sound about right.

you do know that both torque and hp cross at 5252rpm so both numbers would be similar at around that area.

This is on my two rotor ported by Steve Kan.
I sold my 10th Anniversery widebody that was getting the 20b and my 3 rotor now sits on the floor of my garage waiting to go into the vert.

Steve checked the idc and iirc they were at about 75%.
