HKS Wastegate Problems
Hello, I have an HKS Racing wastegate on my car and it isn't holding pressure very well.
I am testing using a Mityvac hand pump vacuum/pressure tester.
When I connect the pressure tester to the fitting at the base of the wastegate and try to pump air into it, I can only get around 2-3 PSI of air because it keeps bleeding off almost as fast as I can pump it in. Even if I pump it as fast as I can it never goes over 2-3 because it just leaks out too fast. I do not THINK the fitting itself is leaking because it's a brass fitting screwed in with some sealant gunk.
When I connect the pressure tester to the TOP fitting and pump air in there, I can easily pump it up to about 10 PSI and it holds there by itself and then very slowly leaks out.
The diaphragm isn't at fault because the top half of the wastegate is holding pressure... so something is amiss with the bottom half stuff right?
Or maybe it's not supposed to hold pressure THAT well... ???
Can someone with a working wastegate test that out? Anyone else have an idea?
My boost is creeping up pretty badly with it in this condition

I experienced the same thing on my hks racing wg. I was told this is normal. At one time I was getting creep, no longer, not sure what fixed it but it's gone. Maybe the wg was sticking, bad ignition, etc?
Using a bicycle pump I could get enough air in it to pump it up to verify the spring pressure, you might try a larger air pump.

Hmm, well mine is opening.. I can hear it quite loudly since I have a dump pipe. It just doesn't open at around 10-11 like it used to.
When it started overboosting, I checked the hose going to the wastegate and found about a dozen cracks in it, so I figured this was the problem. I put in a new hose, but it is still doing the same thing
