HKS wastegate problems
I've tried hooking my wastegate using just the spring rate which is 10 psi. The reference is hook to the manifold pressure. Here's the question, what happens if the reference line is not hook up? Will the wastegate still works with just the spring rate pressure.

nope!! It won't have anything to push against the spring, and will boost, and boost, and boost... you get the picture . People have been known to hit like 27 psi of boost when this happens due to the reference line failing... suffice it to say that it's some speedy acceleration followed by an expensive motor rebuild

You’ll overboost if you don’t have any boost source going to the wastegate. It wouldn’t know when to open.
That “ 10psi " wastegate means you must run at least 10psi…no less…only more.

The wastegate spring is not controlled by exhaust which many think.
The spring is controlled by boost so you will need a boost source.
I once forgot to hook up my HKS GT wastegate and accidentally ran 27 psi,it felt good but the motor popped.
Oh well

there are only two hose connected to the wastegate? one of them to the upper intake mainfold which is the reference? the other is going back to the boost controller? there is no other way to connected wrong is there?
