HKS Style Wastegate... who has it?

I just want to know who here has the HKS Style wastegate and is using it without any problems. I really don't want to turn this into a debate and stuff like "the wastegates are crap".

Also please state if you are using the 50mm or the 40mm ones.

If you had bad experience with it, please let me know that as well.

Thanks

I have the 50mm. Overall when you set the style one against the actual hks you cannot tell the difference by looking at them. Just to let you know the dump tube that came with the kit welded up does not fit the bolt holes. But they do give you 2 different flanges that do fit so I am in the process of cutting the dump pipe off and welding it back on one of the flanges and angling it to fit. As for performance I will let you know.

40mm
gt35r with a blitz manifold.

it would creep when i had open exhaust, but a few bends in the pipes, a resonator and a muffler is just enough to keep it under control.

get a 50... i have the real hks 40 and high and low boost are the same 1.15 bar. the only difference is which one gets there faster. i think the 40 is just too small, i'm using the hks log manny also.

I was wandering about the HKS Style ones on ebay as well. What is the difference between the 40mm and 50mm other then the size of the diaphram.

that's about it.
the 50 is a little larger physically, but they're almost identical in construction.

what I heard from kevin was

physically they are exactly the same inside and out.. (he opened them and compared them side by side)

the only weak link in the Clone is the WG sping...

so u just buy an Original HKS spring of ur desired boost level.. and stuff that into the clone.. and BAM...u got a perfect copy...

this is what i don't understand, how come some people have no creep, while others, like myself, can't seem to get rid of it if we all have the same components?

what size turbo are you running? i've got a "small" t04s with a .84 hotside. my motor is also has a street port from pettit.

I posted about one last year in the ebay turbos thread,

make a long story short- friend gets one new in box, we bolt onto manifold with t3 hybrid on his engine, wastegate jams open after about 5 hours of use. shaft was warped (checked on lathe with dial indicator) he threw it away and bought a new brand name WG end of problems.

don't know if this was an isolated problem or a common occurance, when I posted last time everybody was baggin on the turbo's and nobody really seemed interested in the wastegate.

I would suggest you buy it, try it at low boost with a conservative tune, and then slowly up the ante with your boost and tuning until you hit its max, then watch it very carefully for the first couple of weeks. if it makes it past two ~ three weeks of use it should be OK.

So who ever posted here had a good experience with them. I can't go by the story "my friend had it and this and that" I just need to know the real facts.

Did anyone on the forum that used the Style ones (ebay versions) have one fail on him... meaning get stuck or something else that damaged the turbo or the engine?

Thanks

I've seen two 50mm HKS knock-off W/Gs work fine. My HKS 40mm works fine with T66 and Profec B. Absolutely no differences in diaphragm construction or material between knock-offs and HKS.
