HKS S/S Exh. Manifold for T04R/T04Z (FD3S) - Prone to cracking?

Are HKS S/S Exh. Manifolds for T04R/T04Z (FD3S) prone to cracking? I've been told by a RX7 tuner, who sells his own S/S Exh. Manifolds for the T04R/T04Z, that the welds on the HKS ones are likely to crack under heat and extended use. Is he just bullshitting me (like a lot of Tuners can do anyway!) or is there some truth in this? I'm not going to run 30+psi on the HKS T04Z I bought (just 22-3psi with water injection for road/drag use), so what do you guys think?

Also as my FD is RHD (imported from Japan), do HKS sell both LHD and RHD types? I'm fitting a Tial 60mm wastegate to the setup anyway, so some mod's need to be done to make this fit to the exhaust manifold and also to plumb back the w/g back to the downpipe that I'm going to use. So will the HKS s/s manifold being either RHD or LHD matter that much anyway?

Also what size is the w/g that the HKS s/s manifold is designed to use?

HKS also makes a cast divided manifold for the FD, and HKS tends to have pretty reliable manifolds from what I've seen (I have the log style undivided cast mani on my FC. it has its flaws, but they almost never crack). Is the SS one you're talking about that much better for flow? Or is it just a good design for fitment?

As long as it is an authentic SS HKS manifold, I've not heard of cracking issues. The "HKS style" SS manifolds do have cracking issues. You get what you pay for...

OK $700 brand new sounds good. Maybe interested in this, but I am in the UK so we would have sort out the shipping to UK. Is that OK?

Just to confirm, its the 1419-RZ003 model (see HKSusa.com), is that right? Also can you tell me when bought it, and why are you selling it? Can you take some photos of it please..

Thanks,

Adrian

When I was running a T04R, it cracked all over and around, and i couldn't even get on my car for real cause i was breaking in motor when it cracked. Ray noticed it when car kept boost spiking on dyno. If you want pics let me know, i'll find em. It also was on car for only 3 weeks.

I'm getting confused, I was looking for pics from Infinit1 who has a brand new HKS s/s manifold! But sure if you have any pics, pls post them on this thread too.

What happened to your motor then? If it was spiking badly at high boost and running too lean maybe it was enough crack it...

Anyone else have experiences with the HKS s/s exh manifold?

I was 15psi, but i was breaking in motor, and rpm's weren't over 3500. I also had the Garret T04R. The manifold was only on car for 3 weeks, under 3500rpms. I wasn't no where near lean.

Yes, I've already checked them out, I like their design, short length pipes should give the best response from the turbo as its so close (unless the turbine wheel cracks from the heat at high boost!). Do you know the thickness of the pipes HKS use? And can the welds be reinforced as an extra safety factor? Also can it be ceramic coated instead of using heat wrap?

What wastegate does this manifold usally bolt up to? Do think using a Tial 60mm wastegate is overkill? Maybe 50mm should flow enough (I run 9-10psi on the Tial w/g spring)...I have a Blitz SBC-ID III boost controller (with the dual air valve design), hopefully it can control the w/g well enough ... any comments on this guys?
