You can use a cap off of a rattle can, pd blaster can ect anythign with a lid that fits your needs even a plastic cup out of moms cabinet. unscrew a fitting out of the end of a blow gun, paint gun, anythign that has a fitting to plug into the air compressor. drill al hole in the lid so you can SCREW the fitting into it. kink the air hose. plug it into that fitting. Slowley unkink the hose. DO NOT UNKINK IT ALL THE WAY. THAT WOULD BE WHATEVER PSI THE COMPRESSOR PUMPS TO GOING INTO YOUR MOTOR. ive done this **** tons of times. it works well.

UPDATE: Been a busy week and finally got around to playing with this leak today. I bought a PVC cap and a tire shop just gave me a valve stem, but when I got home I thought I would just try the brake/Carb cleaner trick. I have only used WD40 in the past. I sprayed on the UIM no change, but when I sprayed the LIM right by its gasket, the engine bogged way down. So a pretty good guess is that it is the LIM gasket. I think I am still going to fab up the pressure cap for fun and try it out anyway. It will be good to have one for the future if need be.

So any suggestions where to buy a new LIM Gasket? BESIDES the dealer.

Good to hear. Im sure thats not the only leak. Make the tester and use it you will probably find many leaks. Just go on ebay and by a gasket. I just googled it then bought a upper and lower gasket for what atkins and other places try to charge for one gasket and there all the same ****.

Mazdatrix is listing the FD LIM gasket for $35. What were you expecting to get them for, $10? Just go OEM. You can get them from Mally Mazda too, they're probably slightly cheaper.

Sometimes they do, it depending on the part. Other times you are paying for OEM fitment and build quality. Try buying OEM-replacement aftermarket gaskets for most cars and you will notice that they are often crap compared to the originals.

Well I ended up getting a new LIM gasket from Mazda, changed it out yesterday morning AND STILL HIGH IDLING!!! ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!

After I started the car, I sprayed carb cleaner near the lower intake and yet again, the idle bogged way down. Now I am beginning to think, what if my injector seals are leaking, which is causing air to leak through or what if, GOD FORBID, I have a cracked intake manifold.

question about the pressure test:
when you insert pressurized air from turbo inlet,
1)is there any chance to damage the turbo seals, bearings....
2) that air is going inside the engine. is it posible to create a mess with the oil? (emty oil passages aand leave bearings dry?)
3) how many psi?
thanks

I am totally going to fab up the pressure tester, but I still want to replace my injector seals and everything that goes along with that.

What all should I replace with the injectors to make sure they are completely sealed up? Should I replace the injector air bleeds and if they were broken would that cause a vacuum leak? Also what other o-rings are in there that I should or can even replace? I am thinking, if they are causing a vacuum leak, then perhaps I am not getting the best MPG either (Not that I really care, but may explain the high fuel consumption). Which may explain why the car smells like raw fuel under acceleration and why it has a hard time starting up when hot.

Thanks

I checked for leaks using a different method that you may not have access too but a local shop might. I used an evaporative emissions system "smoke" tester, filled my intake system with smoke and inspected for leaks.

Good question. I'd like to know the answer to that one too.

Interesting, never heard of this. Did this work and where was your leak?

I didn't actually have one, my problem was my IAC wasn't setup properly. Also I had my throttle cable adjusted too tightly.
