high conmpression turbo builds?

I was curious on how people's high compression turbo builds have been? I know lately a lot of guys with cyl engines are going from the low compression with tons of boost to higher compression with less boost.

The topic interests me because I would like more response. I recently built the block on a supercharged e36 bmw with even higher compression forged pistons and rods, and the thing has awesome response now!

im running 9.4 rotors in my FD, but havent really turned up the boost yet.. still working out manifold/turbo setup. no probems at 10psi for the past year though. the biggest effects ive noticed are better torque and turbo response

Did you perform any modifications to the rotors before using them in your engine assembly?

half bridge, truck gt42, 17 deg leading, 12 deg split, no water nor meth injection, could have ran more timing as there was no sign of knock.

ran 9.7 to 1 n/a rotors on a stock turbo FC on 87 OCTANE at 12 psi to boot. timing was 14 degrees advanced 6 split at were torq peak should have been. full boost by 2200 rpm, eventually a vac hose going to the map sensor blew off... the block did not survive. probably going back to 9.4 s4 rotors, as the s5's are too pricey and expensive. s4 n/a rotors are the most common.

nope, iirc i just used an aftermarket lightweight flywheel with S4 auto counterweight and S4 front stationary gear and bearings to keep it balanced

What octane do you get at the pump?

What negative and positive effects do you have running n/a rotors on a turbo engine im curious? I heard someone tell me that but did not believe them because i thought you had to use low compression rotors on a turbo engine

I've ran 9.4 gsl-se rotors on my old race car 30 psi alcohol and even ran 9.7 rotors in a street car 19 psi stock S5 turbo upgrade on pump gas.

every oem rotor compression works on turbo applications with proper tuning so don't believe otherwise.

I rant a turbocharged Renesis (10:1) for 4 years and managed to get 518whp @ 19psi on E85. The problem with that engine is the exhaust geometry/layout which is prone to causing detonation etc. I think Renesis interiors on a REW or B-RE engine would be an interesting combination...ie. more power with less boost.

Cheers!

I'm wondering if there is more reliability with more weight of the rotors. I know the rx8 rotors are light, I'm wondering if thinner materials would mean less strength.

I was reading how the rotors on s5 and up are made with a diferent process. How much more strength is there

I would not be concerned with rotor strength as very few breakages are caused by rotor failure. Its usually Apex Seals first, then its plates cracking. Renesis rotors are lighter but they are still incredibly strong compares to all the other adjacent components in the engine.

Our FD LeMon makes 330 hp at 10 psi-ish:

Half bridgeported.
S4 NA rotating assembly
T04B ebay Ching Chong turbo
3" exhaust
Power FC
850 pri / sec injectors
Walbro 255
Home grown V-mounted intercooler / oil cooler

I'm totally sold on this setup and when my other FD pukes its innards, its getting NA rotors too!

You can make more with less.
