help POP off Valve

Ok i'm getting RB complete turbo back exhaust system which supposed to push my turbo up two 10-11 psi ( and the tech who i talked to on the phone from RB told me that it sometimes pushes it to 13 depending on turbo condition.)And i actually don't what to go that high on boost i what it to be around 8psi because i just don't have enough money to spend on the fuel pump, injectors, fuel management system and so on. So i was thinking about Pop Off Valve but as far i understand that the POV is not build to be used constantly it is build to be used in emergency, am i right? Are they venting all of the pressure from intake system or only what is above the set limit? Will it work? and if yes which one should i get?

Just to make sure i want to make clear for people who didn't know that Blow off Valve (BOV) is not the same thing as Pop Off Valve.

Hello,

First, what type of car do you have? I am guessing you have a Turbo II so I am basing my comments on that.

Running that exhaust with no fuel mods will blow your engine eventually. So you are smart to be careful!

A pop off valve is supposed to be used as an emergency measure so it's not the correct solution for you here.

The TII wastegate passages are too small and that's why overboost occurs with that exhaust. The correct solution is to port the wastegate.

If you can't do that/don't have time/don't want to then you just have to be very careful not to get on the boost too much.

i was planning to port the waste gate so this is not problem but as far as i know this only takes the exhaust side of things and i'm interested in intake side so i would not have to put bigger injectors so i would not detonate.Which in turn will require fuel management system and fuel pump. so any other suggestions?

There are only two pop-off valves that I'm aware of. The HKS is limited on the amount of boost you can use. I believe the spring inside the pop-off valve can only support up to 18 psi. If you plan on going over 18psi than the HKS will be a POS for you.

GReddy has one, which they call relieve valve. I'm pretty sure it can hold up to 36 psi. Check with their websites for more info.

if you have a 87-88 TII then porting the wastegate won't really gain you much. I learned this the hardway, and you need a bigger flapper all together. Why not try putting the stock intake back on, to limit the amount of air coming in, until you get the supportive fuel mods needed. just a thought. The series 5 turbo's are much better at expelling exhaust gasses.
