23K miles and counting. I thought I blew it once last year, but I don't think I have any broken seals now. I think I was just paranoid.

Edit: I just remembered that it hasn't been single the whole time. It has been single for perhaps 15K of those 23K miles.

If the stock twins arent as reliable as single, why do the stock twin engines last longer than a single turbo engine??? I kinda gave it some though, this is the second motor I have blew under 10k miles, the first motor I blew apex seals, the second a external coolent seal went out. of course the second motor was from hayes

You could look at it this way tho. most stock twin motors last longer because they are just that. stock and a lot of single turbo users run a lot more power and boost which decrese the motor life.

I think the main reason most motors blow up is bad or improper tuning. Also an overall poor quality rebuild could be a factor. A highly modded twin turbo car will blow up just as fast as a single turbo car without proper fuel and tuning.

On a properly tuned and setup single putting out over 400 rwhp and complete drive-ability, you should be able to get about 50k miles on the motor. Redline Engineering in southern California told me in order to protect the rotors and housing to pull the motor for a rebuild as to rebuild and check everything to new. They don't want me to waste the rotors or housings as they are high ticket items.

Therefore, my motor will last 50k miles before a rebuild. As long as no supporting systems fail, I strongly believe that. The motor is SO cool. It has been single for almost 2 years now with no problems.
