Help! Everyone please chime in!

Ok. At some point or another you run out of options. I am there with my car now.

Here is the deal; lots of goodies, no power. Here is the list:

-Racing ported engine w/3mm seal
-Haltech E6K
-Turbonetics 60-1 attached to a 1.15 AR
-Straight 3" piping all the way to the exhaust.
-(2)X 11.5 NGK Race Plugs, (2)X 9's NGK plugs
-HKS TWIN POWER Ignition amp
-RP 1600cc injectors & fuel rail
-SX AFuel Pressure Regulator set to a base of 40 psi
-Big 4" K&N air filter for the turbo
-Pettit upgraded pully kit
-Greddy FMIC & Straight piping
-Greddy BOV
-HKS wastegate
-SFP exhaust manifold
-AVC-R boost controller
-Pettit racing radiator
-Bonez Street/Strip Clutch
-8.5lb flywheel

I think these are all the things that make/assist in me going fast. Previously, I dyno'd 341 RWHP @ 11 psi of boost (on the stock twins)

So, one would expect big numbers with this setup right? Here we go:

****16 psi of boost produced 298 RWHP*****
------------
Notes of interest:
1) Turbo smokes like James Bond. Origionally though as crank-shaft pressure, but not looking like so. Turbo also did not spin freely under idle speed (1000 rpm) initially. I took the turbo apartt, and together again. Seems like its much better now.
2) Exhaust leak AFTER the turbo (connecting to the downpipe). Not all that bad, but when putting your hand behind it, you can feel the airflow.
3) No idea if there is an air leak. You cannot hear anything. Car is so loud.
4) On the dyno, with the boost set to 16 psi, it hits full boost @ 5200 rpms. WHY?!
5) Vacuum seems a little low. Its about 11 lbs @ 900 rpm. Origionally 14-15.

--------------
Besides that, the car seems fine. It drives nicely, pulls fairly well, doens't hickup anywhere.

A few days prior to this dyno, I changed my plugs, only to find the bottom plug in the rear chamber melted. Top plug looked blackish, not too bad though. Front chamber plugs looked fairly new.
---------

Whats the deal? I am getting a compression check done tomorrow to find out if this is the problem. Where do I go to find the missing 120 missing RWHP?

My AIR/FUEL is 11.2/11.3: 1 under WOT at that boost. Yes, a little rich, but not 120 rwhp rich.

HELP please.

Mike

Mike, A melted plug is detonation...I used to do this with NOS (lean condition) and it usually would eat the motor. It is always 1 of 3 problems, elementary I know but 1) fuel 2)spark 3)mechanical. Tommorrow if your compression is fine (cross fingers) that rules out part of the mechanical. I would look at the rear rotor for the problem, lack of fuel (lean) clogged or erratic injector or electronic problem with an injector ?? maybe even timing....

Thats what I was thinking. I will see today.

umm, that sucks. I hope it is not detonation.

I wouldn't worry too much about the vacuum. A ported engine (depending on how heavy the porting) usually runs a little less vacuum at low rpms which will also translate to less compression during your compression test so don't jump to any conclusions if your compression is lower than stock.

Full boost at 5200 rpm sounds like a pretty slow spool up, maybe your wastegate is stuck slightly open???

I dunno, 11" of vaccuum is pretty low, especially if it was clearly higher(14-15") before. The melted plug combined with low vac is scary. Hope for the best but expect the worst I guess. Good Luck!
