my buddy has a spare gtx35r that he is willing to let me use/have. I do favors for him every night.
I was thinking of getting the smaller ar housing to run less power. t4 .82ar. I would be happy with over 300hp.
I have a 255lph walbro, 850 primary, 1600 2ndary, aem fuel pressure regulator. ask of my fuel line is still stock diameter. I was told my limitation is the fuel pump and lines

what do you guys think? I was looking at the divided housing. I think it came with a 1.01 ar.

so basically I'm thinking about getting the smaller ar for faster spool, but limiting my peak power. think the fuel system well hold up? any thoughts,, suggestions?

 

I'm thinking about maybe boosting less to keep the power down if I need to. 91 octane, so 14psi or less?

 

A .82 would work and spool pretty quick but if you only want 300HP then stick with the stock twins.
The fuel system is fine for what you are shooting for and will handle well over 400HP.

 

My car is a 2nd gen, so no stock twins. all of the factory 5/16" fuel line is still being used. I was told to go with a better fuel pump and to change the fuel line.

I was waiting for bnr to rebuild my turbo, but after the time It was taking them to get back to me, I decided a full turbo upgrade would be better especially if I am getting this turbo for free. Old bnr rebuild costing around 800, my turbo upgrade project costing a little over $1000 with a free turbo and fabricating my own manifold

 

I ran both the .82 non-divided and 1.06 divided T4's on my gt35r (non -X) and couldn't really tell any difference in low rpm performance, spool up or transient response between the two running boost pressures between .7 and 1.15bar. What I could tell was more power up top and more stable boost control with the 1.06.

 

This is very interesting. have you ever had your car on the dyno? Would be interested to see how much more top end

 

No dyno, just street tuning.

 

Fair enough. Would have to be at least 30HP+ to be noticable on the street.

 

I'm running a t4 to4z ball bearing with a 1.0ar and full boost by 3500

 

what size dump?

I went from a 1:15 ar to a 1:00 (brush to ball bearing) and a 3" drump to a 4" and dropped about 1500rpm worth of spool time (now 3K compaired to 4.4K previously)

and also added 100hp at 3800rpm compared to my old turbo.

 

Nice, that's a significant amount of useable power you picked up. Did you lose anything on the top end?

 

no increased.

 

3inch all the way bk to a dual tip racing beat exhaust. waste gate dumped bk into the exhaust.

 

Just for reference, I made a solid 400rwhp (Non X GT35R) on a 5/16" fuel line with no issues. Used a Supra TT fuel pump and could tell I had more fuel left on the table if I needed it.

If you really want better spool, sell the GTX and get a smaller single. You'll likely see full boost by 3200-3600 with the GTX and a 1.06AR exhaust housing if its setup right.
