GT40R: need advice

HY

I'm looking at a good offer on a GT40R turbo wit T4 footprint
3 inch outlet

specs

Turbine:
Wheel: 77mm w/ 78trim
Housing: 1.06 ar

Compressor:
Wheel: 88mm w/ 52 trim
Housing: .58 ar

My engine is a 13B-REW with a large streetport (Ito)

Engine will get allsupporting mods if this turns out to be a suitable turbo vor my need.

I'm looking for a good/fast spooling turbo that can reach about 400hp and remains driveable without too much lag.

Advice would be highly appreciated

yea that's the gt4088 and should spool pretty good honestly. i wouldn't worry about it, and 400whp is nothing on that one. that's pump gas territory no questions asked

get a water/meth injection kit and you can break 500rwhp on pump gas

that turbo is actually perfect for your needs

No, I think it's almost like a t78 but a lot less lag, how much are you getting it for?

I'm looking at about 1200 USD for a brand new turbo and manifold without shipping. No other parts included

GT4088 is indeed a VERY nice turbo. You shouldn't need more then that with your goals.

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/TURBO/tmodels.html (you will have to convert measurements to metric)

FYI: T88 = TD08 turbine, TD08 compressor (vs T78 with TD07 turbine, TD08 compressor) . based on the numbers on FC3Spro.com , the larger T88 (TD08-34D compressor) is 95mm exducer, ~70mm inducer, 54 trim. So the GT4088R is smaller than the 34D T88 and it is ball bearing.

Greddy also makes a TD08-33D T88 turbo which is ~66mm inducer, ~90mm exducer, which is pretty close to the GT40 but technically still a little bigger in terms of the size of the compressor wheel.

Do it Neal! If you're not interested in the kit let me know who's selling it. I need some more power to match the looks of my fc.

Voor die prijs kunne je hier zelfs geen GT35R kopen.

if you see that you want more power later you could always add a water/meth injection kit for more power and reliability

Yeah I was reading the Howard Coleman thread anout Auxiliary injection and I'm really considering a water injection kit after everything is installed. Just doing some research on hte newer HD AI kits that can be connected to the ECU

Also looking for a PFC map to get this setup running.... hint hint :d

thats the 4088 as mentioned, not a 40r. the gt4088 is journal bearing which makes a differance obviously. the gt40r should get spool a couple hundred rpm sooner and produce a flatter torque curve, all with a good tune obviously.
