GT3076: Too small?
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 3076 for my brother's 13b build. Originally we were going to drop in a 1UZ with ITB's, but have since decided to just stick with a traditional rotary build, make life easy, make more power, rev higher, etc. We decided this sometime last week and picked up a turbo motor from an '89 earlier this week. Because we were doing the 1UZ swap I never bother to do much research on the rotary and here I am scrambling trying to find a turbo for his birthday.
I get the gist of how the engine operates and that it can utilize a turbo much larger than a piston 1.3L could. We're aiming to make 450 or so. Will the 3076 get us there or should I be on the search for something larger? I found this 3076 semi-locally for $300 in need of a rebuild. Not a huge deal as that's actually a service that my shop offers. It's a dual BB and internally gated. Do I buy it, rebuild it, and make a few bucks or will this suffice for our goals? Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Brandyn

it probably tops out at 350whp on a 13B
I am actually looking at going internal wastegate with my turbo. The GT3076 will probably creep due to the flapper not being able to open all the way, but maybe you can give this a try
Ultimate Internal wastegate valve for T3 5Bolt, high flow 3" V-band Style : atpturbo.com
allows wastegate to open fully instead of hitting the backing plate

Well that decides it. I passed on the 3076. Discussed a few things with another dude at the shop who had a TII of his own in the past...we decided we're going to do something of our own. I'll update with a new thread when we get farther along in the build.

I have a friend who's also on this forum making around 480 IIRC with a Garrett Gt3574 from the A-spec kit. I think it is essentially a journal bearing version of the GT3582R. It does have a bigger turbine wheel than a standard GT3582R does, it supposedly has less hotside restriction due to the bigger turbine wheel. From what I've heard it is still very responsive, especially for a journal bearing turbo.
