Going single, should I port the motor too?

Going single, should I port the motor too?
After two years of beating the car the coolant seals are letting go soo I,m pulling the motor and relacing it.
Tearing a stock reman apart and upgrading the rotor housings comes in at $2400 (I guess I could always port it myself while I,m in there)
a Pineapple with a raceport comes in at 4k,with oil mods,so a difference of $1600.
Is it worth it?
I dunno if were talking 30 hp difference here? and a smidge of reliability? With any luck $1600 will be $2600 after interest and a fresh motor again.
The car is a weekend warrior that will track, when it does,nt overheat turbo will probably be GT 35/40 T04S or ? aiming for 430 range to the tire with 15 ibs
Any comments ideas please,thanks.

Must be the new math? ...You rebuilding it yourself?
Reman $2400+2 new rotor housings ($500x2) + porting $350+$1,000 to tear down and rebuild reman = $4750! + seals, gaskets, etc >$5k.
The Pineapple engine with those mod's will be over $5k and to "assume" a price without knowing what needs to be replaced is . Unless you are given a flat rate, you can only be quoted a best scenerio and worst scenerio price ...maybe an average but that's not realistic. (not trying to sound rude )
Btw: you may want to look at the new GT-40R (ball bearing) by Aspec tuning.

well, as he stated, the $2400 includes the new housings, and he's doing the work himself, pulling and reinstalling. so:
$2700 -reman (w/new housings)
$400 - porting
$375 -oil mods stage 3
$400 -other misc items (gaskets, mounts, ect)
$3875
i just got my motor back from pineapple with a "road race" port, which is different than the "race" port (dont confuse the two), stage 3 oil mods, new water seals, and all new housings. and i paid less than $4k. his 6year warranty motors are $2700 though, not $2400. doing the labor saves a bunch. i cant remember my exact total, but it wasn't over $4k, let alone $5k.
just my .02
hey go racer, whats with the titanium tl and ta group buy?

Mp5 > Well my reman last maybe 29k mi and I milked another 5k mi before the clutch was completely gone. My Mazdatrix rebuild is just under $4k (with cash discount). $4k for a Pineapple w/mods is a good price also.
Paximus > I have someone that is going to make me the toe link and trailing arms in titanium but since I have no engine and no air tools, I haven't been able to give him my M2 sets for measurements. The ends will be high grade aircraft quality (not cheapy like the M2's) and pure titanium (not cheap mix).

mp5- i couldn't tell ya right now. but i'm pretty sure he did/does.
goracer- how much for these things?
erniet- great numbers, i've been an admirer for a while. and i had to laugh when you said "only 34lbs of boost" most of us are lucky to see 12, let alone tripling that
my port is a little different than all the big boys race ports, its technically called a "road race" port. designed for.....well, road racing. its not huge for top end like his race ports, more for mid to high rpm range. i'll be posting a thread after it hits the dyno (still breaking it in) on the 8th of dec. we're all curious about the numbers as i have a custom turbo from a-spec as well. should spool like a ***** and carve the twisties through the mountains like crazy....time to get those big brakes, its the way down that gets a little scary...lol

Silly me!
My bone stock reman still runs good too,but does,nt hold coolant for very long under constant boost. Is that my fault and not the engine builders, probably, but I would prefer the best rebuilder this time.
Pineapple is probably my pick right now.
