My Gt-4088r does not feel too big. The 82turbine wheel should contribute to faster spoolup then mine (full boost at 41xx rpm) but with less top end and more backpressure at higher rpm. What do you want to do with it? All around turbo would make sense. A strip-only, dyno-queen turbo might not be the right role.

I have a GT4082 (.96 A/R) on my FD3 and can only agree with Asleep that it is a good all around turbo. I have 350RWHP at 14PSI on a very rich tune (10.x AFR) and full boost by 3,600rpm. Only issue I have with it is that I can't fit shortrunner manifolds due to its size. If you check out my signature, you can see my dyno run (prior to V-mount IC).

Hoon,

My Gt4088r came with a short runner manifold. I am getting ready to put it up for sale. I run a long/tuned runner setup now...for specific spool-up and high rpm/boost characteristics.

^Here are the specs on it. I would say it is not too big for 400hp. Sure, you could reach 400 hp with a slightly smaller turbo, but let's not lose perspective. If you can get a real good deal on it, I would jump on it .

gt4082 is a tiny turbo. the compressor wheel is only 59mm. its close to a 60-1, slightly more flow if i remember correctly off the top of my head... I had one but decided to go bigger and ditch it.

it will max around 55 lbs/min.
