fuel filter selection

I have a wally 255 lph inline.. i have the stock strainer on the sending unit from the 1985 gs fuel pickup... however i have 3/8 fuel line all the way to the bottom of the tank with said strainer on it. Any idea if this will be enough filtration pre pump or am i risking killing my pump.. only running this until next fall when i go in tank pump. i realize i will need a post pump efi filter before my injectors..

I would use a 100-micron in-line filter like the Aeromotive 12316. However, I suppose your ghetto setup would probably work.

I would use a 10-micron filter for the fuel injectors. The 40-micron carb filters let too much junk pass through.

Appreciate the advice... not so much the insult

Like i said i will be replacing the whole fuel system soon... just trying to do this somewhat inexpensively... I was running turbo carb, now EFI.. the steel 3/8 lines with with flared ends and EFI hoses and EFI clamps will work just fine and doesn't cost a thousand dollars for fuel lines... I just want to get this this running and on the road tuned to about 350-400 hp.. Once i upgrade my fuel system.. again... to AN fittings and SS braided lines with a larger in tank pump i will be looking fora little more crazy hp numbers... Also think a filter with pipe thread might be nice... i can use barbs now and just switch to an fittings later and use the same filter.. i think i saw a few different ones like that...

I dont really want to buy a pre filter for 150 bucks if i dont need to... (IE I have the strainer).. because the in tank setup will not use it...

thanks

if you looked at the jay racing ones I linked they have a washable stainless steel filter, e85 compatible, and include a mounting bracket
