Perhaps tomorrow....

As a test, might pull off the alternator belt for a quick power run and see what it costs in power...

i don't understand why it would take so much hp to spin a mechanical fan. if you had a dedicated motor to just spin the fan, it wouldn't have to be a 10-30hp motor.

Remember, if you pull off the alt belt your going to have less power to the coils and the fuel pump. Could get dangerous.

I think it's the ramping up in speed that costs the power not the continuous rate of speed.

What about the water pump?

& I agree with setzep, your ignition system would probably become quite weak without the alternator to keep the battery voltage from dropping.

Steve, what do plan to dyno at(psi)? I think we've seen up to 18psi, I'll bet with your tuning ability the dynos will be higher than what we've seen thus far. When you're ready I know the world is waiting for the 25psi dyno on a 3540

Will figure something out to try and do a run without the clutch fan just to shut setzep up!

Carl - Runs will be at 20psi which is what its tuned to. There will be no dyno tuning, strapped on as is, a few power runs and unstrapped. On a Dyno Dynamics dyno I am expecting high 300s. Honestly, I don't care what the peak power is, as long as the midrange is the exact opposite of this dyno graph

You can buy a GT35/40 kit in the US from a few vendors..

Check RX7store.net and aspec-tuning.com

Also you could order it from horsepowerinabox.com

Sunshine state...........for a minute there I thought you guys where coming down to Florida

So why did he change the turbo for a smaller one. To much lag?

I'm installing a Microtech LT8 and porting the engine. I was planning on a 60-1 turbo. I'm thinking that should be a good setup!!

I believe Steve plans on taking his new setup out onto a track longer than 400m with just a couple of bit's of that twisty stuff 60-1 could be good ......... you just need to work out what sort of power you want and what you plan to do with the car. Then research the best setup and 60-1 turbo to meet your requirements. BTW nice 7
