First hit with the GT35/40 and new engine

Garrett GT35/40 Ball Bearing turbo
New engine with 2mm Mazda seals

Is now tuned to 20psi and HOLY ****! Car has never gone that good before! Has boost from almost idle and winds out to 8000rpm without dropping off! Stand on it in third doing 100km/hr and it fries the Yokohama A032Rs!

Can't wait to get the car to the track and onto a dyno!

SWEETNESS! A GT-35/40 on a BRE. I am starting to dream about this combo. Maybe I should my order to a BRE instead of a BREW.

What kinda port on the engine? Large on the exhaust side? Bet that baby REALLY spools.

Beatiful engine bay. More pics! Thanks!

Tony

Bad dog - Ports are small on the primary for better fuel economy and low down torque, secondaries are pretty big

WHat do you want pics of?

Steve that sounds sweet

Perfect for those drop of the hat "street challenges" (Instant power)

What are you going to do about the lack of traction though?

Get new tyres, the current ones are getting a bit low on tread. Apparently Yokohama have brought out a new compound in the AO32Rs that is softer than the ones I have now, might have to check them out

Glad to see you guys make up Carl
After all is said and done, between Cliff T66 1.00 Q trim(498@1.1bar) and jason T66 1.15 Q trim(600+@28psi) I will use either the T66 Q trim , or a PT67(TO4R Q trim). Based on the Dynos I have seen. Not to start another war here. Congrats, Steve, sounds like you have it dialed. If you should ever happen to dyno it (inadvertently), and you want to share, this Yank would appreciate the education Thanks both, Carl

From what I have seen during the past 2 years, the 1.15 Q is the perfect hotside combo on a t-series, up to a large street port. Bridging and race exhaust ports could use a 1.22 Q or even 1.32.

I like your style.

Tony!, if you are ever short on ideas or need some advice on your combination, shoot me a line.

Who came up with the manifold for the BRE to GT35/40? Who sells it?

Frontal shot, side shots, top shot was great. I want to get an idea how she sits in the bay...not that I am going to put one in a 1st gen....but when I had my 1st gens....it was a dream to have go fast motor too!

Thanks

Rice - No idea. I have a spankers 12 inch long K&N waiting to go on it, but the bend to the fan shroud is to close

someguy - Its a dinky turbo compared to what I had before!

bad dog - The mainfold is custom made. Will get some more shots for you tonight

SWEEET!!!!!!!!! I cant wait for the dynos! So its WAY more responsive than before??? Your engine/turbo combination is what im saving for to put in to my 89 T2, so im very excited to see your results.

I saw videos of your car with the old turbo, and it looked INSANE then. Even faster/crazier now???

I wish I could find my old car craft mag that showed HP differences with different fans on a same engine. If I remember correctly one of the fans they tested used 30hp.

Proper functioning Hydraulic clutch fans suck as hard as a ***** when you show her a $50!!!

When you feel it cut in going up a hill you can feel the car slow down!!, not so noticble when you have a bit of power but on the std engine you can feel the loss of power every time the fan cuts in.

Minimum 10bhp at full lock up, could be quite a bit more depending on which model of clutch fan you run.

Nothing cools as good as one though!!! Just it does cost you a bit of power.........nothing for free in this world
