EFR 8474 + pump gas, large SMIC sufficient?

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has run an 8374 or comparable size with a large SMIC? I will be running ~14psi on 91 octane with water injection. I found some old threads saying that the core itself should be sufficient, but I haven't seen any recent ones. Will I run into piping clearance issues?

The Greddy V-mount would be great, but it doesn't fit into my budget.

The SMIC offered by Rotary Performance will be plenty good for your intended setup; especially considering the added benefit of WI planned.

Give them a shout @ 972-530-3335. Mary and or Chris will get you squared away in good order!

Yes. I ran a Cool Charge III on my 8374 at 20lbs on pump gas and water injection. Intake temps were great. Make sure you don’t buy a knock off core though.

Yes.

And, plenty of people have successfully run SMICs on less efficient (hotter output) turbos (stock or else) to 14psi. The factory SP endurance cars ran an SMIC to victory.

Probably not on the cold side, but you'll likely need some simple custom pipes to mate everything up on the hot side.

agree 100%.

since the charge air coming from your turbo is over 300 F at 20 psi, a really good intercooler is foundational for a healthy motor. a low quality core ( and they all look the same) alone can break a motor. My Cool Charge 3 along with methanol AI removes over 200 F from my charge air. no knock at 585 rwhp, 24.9 psi on 93 octane and AI. your turbo is capable of 530 rotary rwhp and you should size fuel and cooling systems for that number. one of the nice things about the Pettit Cool Charge is that it allows you to get your air filter out of the oven that is downstream from the iC core since your filter fits on the passenger side of the core. a big deal.

two sections of my website deal with system design

@Howard Coleman, how much power can be made with pump gas and water/ meth? You made 585, which is alot I would think with AI.
I'd love to find out what the 9280 IWG going on my current build (potentially)can do when turned up, but no way do I want to resort to E85.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely planning to take advantage of the space that the CC3 (M2/ASP large?) intercooler leaves on the passenger side for an intake.
