Easy Oil Temperature & Oil Pressure
i just finished installing FJO's oil temperature & pressure gauges. i have always wanted a read on my oil temps, especially since i will be ontrack this season. of course the OEM oil pressure gauge has been temperamental.
here they are all lit up. (there is a dimmer switch if you get tired of dash disco.)
there is always the question as to where to put the sender. some have put it near the oil filter but that measures oil temperature after the oil coolers. i wanted to know the temp in the oil pan. i removed the useless oil level unit, gutted it and welded on an aluminum bung. my FJO temperature sensor screws right in. do not do what i initially did... i copied the mounting flange in SS and welded a bung on. i used the Right Stuff and of course it leaked. you really need to use the factory aluminum piece as it has an O ring. no leaks.
pressure was easy. i just screwed in the FJO pressure sensor to the original OEM oil pressure sensor port. (you need to remove the Elbow to gain access.
the gauges wire to the key for 12 V, wire to ground and have snap fittings to the sensors. they also have a wire for min-max readings and a dimmer wire.
temp is avail in F or C.
i use an FJO's pressure sensor to log fuel pressure at my regulator. i use another to log engine backpressure.
oil pressure will now be loggable.
