earls fitting questions
This may be dumb but im not sure where to look. As for the -6 -8 and so on. I am putting a To4s 62-1 on my T2 and need to get the fittings and the braided line for the oil lines. So i need 2 fittings for the turbo and 2 for the block. Anyone know th e exact ones i need or if i measure them how to converts to the -6 -8 .... measurement. whats a good size line for the iol feed and for the return. Any help will be appreciated

You'll need a 14X1.5mm to -4AN adaptor for the block, 2 -4AN 90deg swivel fittings for each end of the line, about 18" of -4 steel braided line, and a 1/4NPT to -4AN adaptor for the turbo. You can get them all at Summit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the adaptor for the turbo..

sorry to hyjack the thread, but I got some o rings with a fuel pressure regulator. and Im guessing its for the AN adapters that came with it. but they dont fit between the adapter and the reg.
are O rings used when connecting AN fittings?

If this is the case it is because you are supposed to be using cutoff tapered flare fittings

okay, I have a regulator, It has three tapped holes for three AN/NPT adapters.
Just looking at the adapters. the NPT side is 1/4 in shorter than the threaded hole in the FPR, so the o ring cant go there. so either they are for a internal thing, or there for the AN side

it is not an NPT thread. it is the same 9/16 18 that your (what you are calling AN) side is. it just does not have a 37* end to seal it. if infact it is a NPT, then you either have the wrong regulator (carb) or fitting. besides that, the 37* is what seals the AN fitting, the Oring is what is sealing the AN port thread and tape will seal a pipe thread. hope that helped

In what way do the o-rings not fit? Diameter too small to fit over fitting, the o-rings are the size of monster truck tires, they squeeze out when tightening, etc. Which is it?

The return is easy.. Go to ATPturbo.com or a similar website and get a T4 based return flange. Take the stock return flange from the front turbo (It has a flange on both ends..) cut the outside one off. Take a 10 or so inch piece of -12AN silicone hose and slip it over both flange ends.. Clamp them down and you're ready to rock.
If you can't find a turbo flange with the pipe welded on, you can get them with a threaded hole. Then just go to Autozone and get a barbed adapter.. (I forget the size)

umm...not silicone.
I used standard "blue" rubber hose and coated it in that shinny silver /fiberglass heat resistant tape crap...
I also "only" used -10. with a -3 feed...i'd like to see a -10 offer ANY resistance to that

When the viton Oring is placed over the fitting it should already be stretched a little or at least snug against the nonthreaded section of the fitting.
When it is tightened down as Max said it should push out and expand, not be loose at all on the fitting.
What brand of FPR do you have?

The setup I mentioned utilizes a -4 feed, hence the -12 return. Either will work fine. No restrictors..

umm...no...silicone does not stand up to hot oil very well.
they make silicone hoses that have a teflon inner lining. Maybe(hopefully) that is what you're using?
