The Dyno Page.....

So... Here's the deal.. Some of you may know I host a dyno comparison page at http://dyno.zeroglabs.com/

I also have some other useful (?) stuff on that site like the PowerFC tuning doc, a vacuum hose diagram I worked on, my pull-clutch video... blah blah... at http://www.zeroglabs.com/rx7/

I've also got a little-known FTP site with something like 15 gigs of car-related movies (racing, top gear, wrecks... you know all the stuff that has gotten posted here over the years).

Anyhow... all that stuff runs on a T1 line that my work used to pay for. Now they don't pay for it... and it's 340 bucks a month, so I think it's gotta go. The problem is that I'll have some crappy cable modem instead and I don't know how I"m going to make it all work with no static IPs most likely, etc etc.... not to mention, you know those ******** always try to block you from hosting anything useful so that you have an almost-useless service and they save money on their uplinks to "real" ISPs like MCI, Sprint, Level3, etc.

Just an FYI, that some of the things I host may go down permanently (hopefully not) or temporarily as I re-host them or find workarounds. The morons at the cable company give you a whopping 25 megs of web space... woo hooo... what a joke. I probably need at least 20 GIGS, not 25 measly megs.

The dyno page is probably the very most useful and hard-to-rehost thing... as it requires Apache webserver, PHP, and a SQL database for it to all work. The other stuff is mainly just a few files and I could toss that on someone's webserver somewhere with little difficultly.

Anyway, I'm not planning to let my RX-7 stuff die off (except maybe the free movies which harldly anyone knows about anyway)... but if you are having trouble reaching my zeroglabs.com stuff, here's why.

*cry* I will miss having my T1, but it's a bit pricey... I'll also miss having a Cisco router as my firewall to the internet. I don't even run virus scanners since I block practically everything on the router I'm sure my computer will be owned now that I'll be on a cable modem... it's like using a bathroom in a NYC subway... ick.

I'm really sorry to hear about that bro. Hopefully you'll find a way around all of the BS. Your dyno chart site has been invaluable to the vast majority of people on this forum for quite some time. Best of luck.

I have been wondering why some of the latest dynos posted on here were not up on your site? I hope you are able to keep it going. I visit it often to compare other's results!

i've been doing a lot of hosting through opensourcehost.com. The owners are very very cool and pricing is good. Get in touch with them. Tell them alberto sent you (amgsoftwarelabs.com and the links in sig).

you might be able to implement a google adwords hack to get some advertising revenue depending on your traffic. research it a bit.

let me know if you need any help.

Speakeasy.net lets you run servers and has plans with static IPs. Getting a lot of bandwidth isn't cheap, however. It might be best (cheapest) to get a regular connection at home and buy separate hosting.

Cross your fingers! Pray to the rotary gods....

It looks like my cable company will give me 5 static IPs for 10 bucks a month

If all goes well, I'll just set it up on that, redirect/reconfigure the DNS, and nobody will even really notice.

As for the "why" of why the site has been a little out of date ... well I'm lazy.. and married now... and play too much World of Warcraft for my own sanity... so I've been slacking on the updates.

I just added Carl Byck's 500 and 450 rwhp runs... and let's see...

I've got a Gotham Racing GR67 here... and another R85... a T70... ummm a 60-1...

So I just need to get off my butt and add them in
