it dont fit....???
So I have a T61 turbo...
.55 a/r housing - i think its the TS04 compressor housing
I got my new motor and tranny in the car, HKS manifold - go to put on turbo and compressor housing hits the water line - no big deal, move it a bit.....but then now it wont go past hitting the frame. SO....how does everyone make this compressor housing fit??? does it just not fit with the HKS manifold??
Also, how is everyone doing the oil drain plug. I cut the stock one at the flange and then just use that with a hose on it connected to a barb fitting on the turbo. but once again, that doesnt fit either.
help???

Damn, Nick.
Sorry to hear that....I thought the "Fischer Racing" Turbo Kit was drop right in?
I was interested in his kit, but am going BNR Stage 2 full steam ahead

kit supposed to = no headaches for Nic
instead I could have bought everything I got myself...b/c the stuff that I didnt feel like doing like the downpipe and finding the right fittings, etc.....I never got those with the "kit"
Instead, I got the T61 which i substituted for the regular "kit" T60-1 and HKS manifold and wastegate in August/September when I ordered everything in June.
Carson, if you're reading this either send me my downpipe that was supposedly sent 2nd day on the 24th of October or send me a tracking number so I can claim something through UPS.
ANYWAYS - back to topic - do i need to dent the frame in that spot?? and how is everyone doing their oil drain from the turbo to the oil pan?? anyone have pics???

fart on a friends head!!!
man, i suggest to anybody that reads this thread to stay away from carson fischer (spyfish007). he may be a cool guy and all, but there are too many people that have a bad past with him. i have met him once and i can tell you right now that it will only be accompanied by a couple more times. his service is totally dissatisfying.

Re: it dont fit....???
Did you try to rotate the compressor housing? If the compressor housing is the TS04, it should fit with the manifold. The XS Engineering TS04 has the same kind of manifold. XS Engineering claims their turbo manifold is different than the HKS cast one but when I look at it, it looks the same to me. As for the heater line, you do need to change the metal one with a rubber hose. The HKS turbo kit comes with one.

the metal heater hose line fits fine once it is past that point...as it tries to go lower and pivot to fit on the manifold though....it just doesnt want to go.
Other people have told me I will have to put about a 1/2" dent there to get it to fit and that this is fairly common.
How is the oil drain done on the XS, Greddy, and other kits??? Also, how are the water fittings done?
any pictures would be highly helpful. I will try to get some pics of my car tomorrow night.

are you running the hks cast or the hks stainless manifold?
the cast one sits down lower than the stainless.
I have a cast manifold on my car right now and my compressor housing pretty much rest on the frame rail.
also did you get a 60-1 or the Tso4? most 60-1 or t04s turbos from xs or turbonetics run either a .60 or .70 compressor housing. and the Ts04 garrett that you can get at your local turbo/Diesel shop has the .55 a/r compressor housing. the Ts04 is just wide of a compressor housing to fit on the hks cast.
I ran into this problem with my current setup. a 60-1 from turbonetics fits fine with no problems. I am running a hks T45s turbo right now with a compressor housing that is a .72 and its just a little to big I had to put a brace on the motor to keep it from hitting the frame rail... .
does it look like this? Tso4
or like this 60-1

hour or so of banging on frame later with one of thsoe mini sledge hammers....i have a nice dent and the turbo JUST fits
as for the fittings, i took the 1/2" threading to a 3/8" converter to a 3/8 extension which clears the bolt head and then back to 1/2" where it meets a female to female 1/2" and hits back up to the same fitting i was using before with the 5/8" barb on it.
On advice from a friend of mine, I am trying to find some sort of high-temp oil safe silicone hose to use so it doesnt melt like the rubber i was supplied with will....also looking for same thing in 3/8" ID for the water supply lines.
