Doing a single project on my own, Totally lost! PLEASE THROW ME INFO!

Alright, I don't even know where to begin. I don't know how to install a single setup, and this is going to take me forever to do, but I am not going to fork over $2000 to get it done.... I rather save the money and waste all my time screwing things up myself, haha.

ANyway, if anyone has any info on HOW TO install a single setup, PLEASE point me in the right direction.

You can e-mail td08fd3s@gmail.com - I heard someone had a guide that had some good information.

I appreciate the help...

Thanks,
-Darren-

start by taking off all of the twin turbo plumbing and the turbos. did you buy a kit or did you try to piece eveything together?

Honestly, I don't think you are ready to take on this job. You should learn about the car and do smaller jobs first. Maybe there is someone you live near that is an FD owner that knows the car. If you were closer to me, I'd stop by and help you with it.

I've pulled the engine, replaced the stock twins, done all kinds of work... did all the vac lines myself, boost controller, etc etc... Tom93R1 has helped out a lot, but I've never done a single. I didn't buy a kit, I pieced one together....

For the "big" parts (turbo, manifold, etc.) it should be fairly obvious what to do. It can be tricky to figure out what to do with the vacuum lines, etc. but the best way to get help with those is to ask about specific ones. You are going to need to be more specific with what you need help on. I don't mean to flame in any way, but the answer to "how do I install a single turbo?" is simply "install it".

Do you have a turbo, manifold, etc. now or do you want help choosing parts?

Just do a search it's on here some place.

A single install is pretty straight forward, you remove a lot of crap and put other parts in place of where the stock stuff was. If you've replaced the stocker than this should be a piece of cake. Who the hell was going to charge you $2,000 to convert single turbo???

haha, well i got everything to do.. .clutch, radiator, intercooler, piping, flywheel, etc etc...

anyway, i found a vac diagram for the single setup on the forums, i dont have the link right now, but if you search for it you can find it. Removing the rats nest is easy, i had to do that when i replaced all my vac lines originally =P

I start on the 18th, I'll post here if I am running into some problems.

Thanks guys

How hard is it to replace the stock twins with the efini twins? The shop wants to charge me $700 to do the install, is that a fair price? I don't mind doing it myself, if it’s pretty straight forward.

Don't pay that much. It's not hard, do it yourself. Start with a search here and consult the shop manual you'll be fine. PM me if you have any problems.

Yeah, easy to do yourself... and $700 is WAYYYY TOO MUCH. I am paying $1500 for a remove, rebuild, and replace on an engine and that is way harder than a single turbo install, which is actually very simple.

i wouldn't quite call it easy, but it is pretty straightforward. you might run into issues with stuck bolts on the manifolds which can make it a bitch. if you are going to do it yourself, make sure you order all the gaskets and such in advance. some might be reusable but some won't and you won't want to be down waiting on parts.

Do some searches, I found enough information to get this far on my own. The turbo kit install is straight foward, other then removing the old rusted bolts. Are you planning on doing your fuel system and tune also ?
