Do I Remap?

I PUT THIS ON TECH SUPPORT TOO. I HAVE A SINGLE,
POWER FC AND AM DOING STREET PORT. DO I NEED
TO REMAP? DO I NEED THE WIDE BAND O2 METER
[1300 BUCKS!!!!] TO TUNE PROPERLY? I HAVE AN
EGT AND THE FC SHOWS O2 VOLTAGE . I HEARD
THE STOCK SENSOR IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR
TUNING. SHOULD I FIND A DYNO AND WIDEBAND
O2 METER, I HEARD THAT IS WHAT SOME DO

Yep! Porting will change your VE table enough to benefit from re-mapping. There is no substitute for a broadband O2 when tuning. A standard 02 sensor can only measure stoich, and the CPU counts these zero crossings to determine proper closed-loop mixture. Beyond this, a stock sensor is only accurate enough to indicate one of two bipolar states: rich or lean. Anything less than pegged at WOT on a standard 02 is asking for trouble. You need to accurately measure mixtures in the 12.0:1 - 10.5:1 region for a sensor to be of any use (depending on boost, of course), and only a broadband can do this accurately. Sure, a standard gauge is fine for driving where you only want to verify that nothing is amiss, but you need the expensive one when you hit the dyno. Most competent shops own a broadband. If they do not, then their inexperience and lack of proper tools will only lead to disasters for YOU. Find a shop who knows what they are doing, and has the proper equipment. Perhaps we should compile a list of capable tuners by area? I would not try to tune your PFC on the street with only the stock sensor.
