Disconnected solenoids on singles. Need any resisters across the plugs?

Hi, may I ask what you guys did to the disconnected solenoid plugs after you go single? I bought my car with the engine blown and a TD06-25G and a RE tuned 96 ECU (different harness plug) and after plugging in the new motor, the car's turned up a bunch of codes all related to the disconnected solenoids. Problem is, car runs pig rich at idle and very lean after 3,000 rpm as if the injectors are giving constant fuel regardless of throttle input.

Apart from the codes for the solenoids, no code thrown up for TPS, MAP sensor, or crank sensor. (When the TPS, MAP and crank sensor are unplugged, these codes do come up so they appear to be working?) Compression of rotor good and car is driveable only between idle and 3,500 rpm and gentle throttle increase.

I've scratched my head on this problem for over a year and car's still sitting in the garage. I'm not in the US and no one here knows anything about the rotary. Many thanks in advance.

You can install resistors in place of the solenoids. I think I read that 330 ohm resistors work fine, but I don't remember the wattage rating. I bet you can find more details by searching for "solenoid resistor".

You might have a bad secondary injector if the car just stops making power under boost or above ~4K RPM or so.

Or the manifold reference singnal from the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) might be disconnected (especially if the solenoids are gone). Make sure there is a hose on the FPR that goes to the intake manifold somewhere.

Max, thanks so much for your help. So have you all got resisters wired across the empty plugs? I've got an aftermarket FPR and got rid of the original, do you mean I need to reconnect the FPR?

No, most people have a stand alone ecu setup with a single turbo. i would suggest doing the same. The stock twins will give you around 350 whp somewhat reliably, if you want more than that then you should definately get a stand alone.

I don't have solenoids or resistors because the PowerFC that I am running doesn't care if they are missing.

The FPR should have a vacuum hose going to it (from the manifold, somewhere between the engine and throttle body) so that it can hold the fuel pressure constant relative to the manifold pressure. This is known as the "manifold reference" signal. If the hose it missing, you will run rich at idle and lean under boost. Do you have a manifold reference hose on your FPR?

Max, that sounds like a very likely cause. I've yet to go down to the garage to look at it again but will probably do it tommorrow. Thanks very much. Incidentally, can you spot the FPR hose in the attached photos?
