Considering the t78. When should I exspect boost?

Hey, I'm getting really close to deciding on a single turbo setup. So far I am leaning towards the T78 kit. It seems to always produce good results hands down. What I'm curious about is spool up. Currently, I'm running my twins non-sequential. I'm used to haveing to wait a little for boost, but how much lag is there with a t78? When will I see full boost in second and third gear? (probably 17-19psi) How much boost will I have by 3k in second and third?

Thanks!

What, are you planning to auto-X this car or something?

i think you can expect full boost at 3250-3750 rpm, depending on what full boost is set at and what exhaust you are running. if you run 17 psi and a smaller exaust, like a 2.75-3.0 ID, you will be right at 3000-3250. if you are running a 3->4 ID exhaust and 19 psi, you will be closer to 3750 rpm. -gordon
Is that with a STOCK T78?? If I'd have known that it spooled that quickly, I would have gotten the T78 instead of the RX6. I heard that a T78 with a stock motor makes full boost around 4-5krpms

I think that most people with a T78 make full boost around 5000.

Gordon, could you send me a copy of your dyno? I'd like to add it to my collection. Please list any mods that I might not know about that would make a difference.

Gordon, I have about 30 dynos with little text files of what I know of their mods... Many of those probably overlap with ones you have. If you give me an email address, I'll put them all in a zip file tonight and mail em over. You can look them over and see which you might be able to give me. I don't think I need your fuel/timing maps...

How are you managing to see boost at this low of RPM? I'm seeing it around 4500.

I run 17 psi on the street. I don't even see 17 psi in 1st and 2nd gear (RPMs rap too quick). In third gear, 17 psi comes in around 4500 RPM as well as in 4th.

i have a 3.5 inch exhaust and i get full boost at about 4800 rpm. i would say there is some (very little) boost by 3000, and nothing below that. From my research if you are running less than 19 psi you will have less lag and similar power with a t04s.
