i take it you havent seen the quad turbo camaro yet. at least i think it is a camaro. the ducting going form the intercooler to the motor looks like a house duct.

actually supposedly not that bad.notice the WG on the charge pipe...what they do is, during staging the WG's on the headers are completely closed allowing all of the exhaust energy to feed the turbos and the WG on the charge pipe controls the boost at a lower boost level usually around 10-15 psi. after the car is launched the normal WG's go back to their normal function and the one on the charge pipe is completely closed off! what this does is allow the turbos to run max rpm's until the E-WG's open back up and they slow down! this is all controled via a circuit of timed solenoids and relays..i am working on a similar setup for next year! BTW most of the guys run around 50 psi or so the rules will not allow them to run electronic boost controlers so this is how they work around the rule.

also remember that most of them are running the new Bruno box which is a clutchless tranny that uses a torque convertor. so once the boost is at max it NEVER drops until the run is over!! my car is like that too...on the brake it makes 30 psi and when i let the button go the boost climbs to 35psi and never drops until i get out of the throttle

More Reiger...

I was at Orlando Speed World last weekend for the Real World Street Nationals - pssst.... they're really not street cars. I snapped these pics of Reiger's car - an awesome machine. I thought he qualified, but never saw him Sunday??? I don't have any room to talk. We failed to qualify too. Anyway, if you like big turbos, go find an Outlaw 10.5 race - the only restrictions on the powerplant are no nitro, and only 1 power adder, so you see n2o, blowers, and monster turbos . Just one other rule: 10.5" slicks - its some wild racing

Anyway, enough blabbering. Here's what you want to see... Note the intercooler pipes are mated using heim joints (see last pic)! Also note the length of his exhaust runners - very ver long. Enjoy.

good work man!!! so you actually got to see this car run? it is funny how this car is built using the principles that i and a few others on this list talk about...ie huge exhaust, long runner headers etc etc. but it seems that whenever i and the others try and tell people these things all they want to do is pull out some stupid formula or quote from a gay *** book that someone wrote decades ago!! i would like to see someone argue with Bob on these subjects. i am sure he would say " **** you , i am making 2700 hp and spooling it!"

thanx for tha pix

Talking

so you actually got to see this car run?
Oh yes, its a beautiful car, and pretty fast too .I think it looks best with the hood off. It never had the hood on in the pits. BTW, they're tractor trailor towing rig is the envy of everyone. It's totally immaculate. Everyone else is in toter-homes or 48' Featherlites.

IIRC, he was in the 6.80's @ ~200mph. Seems like he was qualified 8th or something like that. I thought I got some video, but no luck...

There were several other 100+ mm (single) turbo'ed V-8's in the Pro Mod, and Outlaw 10.5 classes, I call 'em wood chippers. They're huge! Best run I saw (not turbo) was on Saturday night. A blown Viper (Pro Mod, or Super Street they call 'em in FL) ran a 6.65 @219mph - dayum that's fast!

Anyone seriously into turbo performance that hasn't done it, should go to an outlaw race that features Pro Mods or the Outlaw 10.5 cars, and look at the turbo setups. The turbos, of course, are awesome, but more interesting is the innovative intercooler, exhaust, and fuel systems and related plumbing. It is absolutely astonishing. These guys know how to get to the finish line - without parts falling off. Its not as easy as it sounds.
Cheers,
Steve C.
