Exclamation CALLING " RICE "or any other "GURU"

How much ignition advance and what A/F ratio under boost (, max of 25- 28 psi ) for a half bridge with water / methanol injection for big power and good reliability (when I evevtually get the ****** started ,I am having some problems ) .

Marcel, what fuel are you going to run ?

I would aim for 12 deg advance.......regardless of type of fuel or water injection.

The a/f can be more flexible, but ranges between 11.0 to high 12's or even 13's believe it or not !

Start off with low 11's region with higher quality gas than you feel you need even with the WI, this will "should" be realy safe & is the best policy to start of safe even at the cost of some BHP, remember it is far easier to add timing and pull fuel out as required compared to rebuilding the engine & turbo (that takes far longer )

If you do a search you will find specifics on where and what from many different people who have similar specs to you as well for a bit of a broad range of opinions.

Take it easy and remember to creep up on it ! do not do whole sale changes, and start off safe.

regards.

Pete

I would be highly recommend seting up with 10.8:1 a/f and use no more than 12 deg total advance at WOT, and cold plugs.

Get it to live @ 20psi first on these setting, then step it up from there.

I personally would not run leaner than 11.5:1 with water injection @ ANY boost above 1.4bar or 20psi while running pump fuel, I would be inclined to reduce the timing to 10deg at the higher levels.

Race gas is a different story.

Don't even think of running 20 plus pound boost on pump gas if you want your engine to stay in one piece.
What turbo are you running????

Rice, so what advance would you suggest with 0° split at 15 or 16PSI with an 11:1 on 93 octane pump gas with all 9's for plugs? No water injection...

Thanks, just looking for some input.
Eric.

This is something I cannot help you with (since I run no split!) A good source for split timing specs is from some of the PFC users, some of them have maps posted.......start searching

I assume there would be lots of Haltech guys running big HP on (greater than street ported engines) who would have good maps too ?

Ok guys.
Leading & trailing split will vary from engine to engine. The best way to find what works best for you is to put the car on the dyno and play around with different settings.
Start with 15deg split at idle through to 2000 rpm, then slowly reduce the split down to 8deg at around 4500 rpm.8 deg will probaly be the best right through to 8000.
This is a rough guide but will get you reasonably close with the set up you are running.
Take more notice of the torque when playing around with the split,it is here you will make your gains.
8 deg works best for me on my own & my customers cars, you will more than likely find that running the split at zero will cause power & more importantly torque to drop off substantially.
Give it a try!!!!!!
