BW S366 Maxed Out - AEM Infinity - E85

Well it seems about once a year or 2 I change my setup and post my results. Since the last time I posted numbers I have done enough development and have moved forward enough that I think posting what I have accomplished is acceptable.

Here is a link to my previous setup. https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo...-club-1047460/

Since then I have added the following:
1 off Custom 300M Ron Moore Nitro Driveline axles
HPP 2in1 Diff Cradle/Brace
TII Clutch Type Diff
Custom fully ducted Garrett Ballistic GT 24x12x4 V-Mount IC
3" IC piping with Vibrant VanJen connections
AEM Infinity 6 (Unbelievable)
Custom plug n play harness from board member EB Turbo
AIM EVO4 GPS logger with GDash display custom mounted to steering wheel

I just made the switch to the AEM Infinity 6 and all I can say is wow! What a unbelievable EMS. Because there was very little documentations and I believe no one has ever had a FD running on one outside of AEM there were a few things that my tuner and myself had to figure out for ourselves but it well worth it. Even though out of the box we did not have everything setup properly once we told the Infinity what injectors we were using it started on the first crank! Literally right out of the box. Definitely want to thank EB Turbo a unbelievable mill spec harness that was configured to my exact specifications. Mode switch, 2 x EGT sensors, fuel pressure sensor, dual knock sensors, CAN Bus, Oil Pressure sensor, Oil Temp sensor, direct fire AEM Smart coils and Flex Fuel sensor. All plug and play with deutsch connectors! Seriously unbelievable work. My tuner who works with the Infinity on a daily basis was shocked at the workmanship and quality of the harness. Off the charts stuff. If you want to make the switch to the Infinity you have to contact EBTurbo on this forum. You won't be disappointed.

Now to some results.

On my previous setup the main issue was air temps. I was using a cheap ebay core that worked fine at the 20psi and under level but once I really pushed it air temps went through the roof. Power at higher RPM would just plummet like a rock at high boost. Switching to a high end bar plate core corrected this issue. The Garrett GT Ballistic core literally laughed at anything we could throw at it. Maxing out the S366 at about 32psi still only resulted in a 34C air temp. 34C or 93 degrees was the highest air temp we recorded under boost.

We pushed the S366 as far as it would go. It is nice to be able to max out a part especially a turbo. This is the first turbo that I have ever truly maxed out. That being said the S366 on my large street port 13B REW was perfectly happy at 27/28 psi. It would hold this to 8250 rpm which is what I currently have my cut at. I wish we could of raised the red line but I simply ran out of time. 32psi is where we got a peak number but this was early in the power band and the turbo simply could not hold this. Boost would drop to the 27/28 psi level.

I am sure I am going to get flamed but my top number was 666.9WHP and 543WTQ! Everyone was floored that we were getting this much out of this turbo. We did numerous back to back to back to back runs trying to heat soak the thing but they were all in the 660 to 650 range. This is real! The S366 may be the pound for pound dollar to HP champ. I paid $750 for this turbo. That being said I am going to switch to the EFR9180 w/1.45 housing at some point. Enough is never enough when you have a serious car problem

Oh and up next is a fully face plated and build trans from Liberty Gears with Tilton flow control valve and Mini Twin disc SPEC Clutch. I will be hitting the track with drag radial with my gear based boost control and all out on full slicks before I switch to the EFR 9180. Real HP is determined at the strip and that is where I plan to truly put mine to the test.

I believe is its the 80/73 which is the aero technology and size as the efr 9180. Someone can correct me on this though if I am wrong.

I think it shares the same size and design turbine wheel but the 9180 compressor wheel flows more (like 10% I think, unless I read the compressor maps wrong) and is like 1mm larger.

Can't wait to get my 9180 project over to Tony. Wish I could have seen this thing in person, good results.

Brian,

Let me know when you are ready for a 9180. I would be happy to supply one at discount in return for a dyno sheet. Oil drain is different, and the downpipe will have to be modified( 3.5" marmon vs 3" vband on EFR). Great results btw!

Hit me up when you do get your project over there. I would love to stop by and check it out.

Also - there is another shop in town that has a Dyno Day BBQ 1 Saturday every month or so. I plan to go to the next one to get some results on a different dyno. I will let you know the details when I get them in-case you want to check it out.

Thanks Elliot. I will definitely let you know when I am ready. I have been putting off the new clutch and trans for to long and I know if I do not get these done it is going to come back to bit me. I have the SPEC mini twin disc and Tilton flow control valve in the garage ready to go. I also have a extremely low mileage Series 8 trans ready to be sent to Liberty. If it was not for taxes it would already been sent

Yeah I'll definitely give you a heads up. Shoot me a PM with the dyno day info when you find out, would love to see the car.

Also really interested in that faceplated trans when it goes in, and how much that flow control valve slips the clutch. Was thinking about one and using the largest orifice since I have a 5.5" unsprung twin disk clutch setup, but wasn't sure if it'd be suitable for a road course environment.
