Build your own electronic boost controller?

I have a Blitz SBC DC old one I got from a fellow forum member, but the solenoid/stepper motor doesnt seem to be working...

Right now I have a simple MBC hooked up, but really dont like screwing with it do to having to pop the hood everytime I want to adjust it.

So I have searched around on the internet and ebay for electronic boost controllers, the dsm guys have made a poor mans profec electronic boost control. It seems like a fun little project to do.

I have looked around and haven't found much info on it, I am sure some of you tech guys out there would have some ideas of doing this. I know a solenoid would be needed or a type of pressure switch, then hook up a dial to either of the 2 to control the solenoid. It sounds kind of simple, what do you guys think? Just looking for a little project to keep me occupied.

Here is a example of the solenoid valve you can use...

Now the only thing you should need is a dial switch to adjust how much the solenoid valve opens and closes.

It doesn't work like that. Those valves are either open or closed. The way an EBC controls them is with duty cycle and not with voltage.

It's open loop, though.

The Megasquirt has closed loop boost control and can be built for under $200 and triggered from the ignition coil.

Even better, thank you for posting that link. I would like to give the product a try, it's very nice that you can map out your boost for that cheap!

Trust me I would test the device first, I just got done putting a motor and everything in the car. I don't feel like going through the labor of doing it again so soon...

Maybe I can get another stepper motor for my blitz ebc and just hope it works? I do need some form of electronic boost control, with the MBC it fluctuates day to day by 1-2psi which is a very noticable difference in power. So right now I am sitting at 10-11psi havent been able to turn it up to a bar yet, this thing just wants to really try to sprout wings and take off!
