Breaking in the engine w/o a Tune??? I Have ?'s

My engine is going to be rebuilt fairly soon, I'd say within the next 3-4 weeks it will be underway. Anyway, I am running a PFC and you can read my sig for my mods. Now, I need to break in the new engine without boost... I have a map that I can use which will run really rich, and I can check the AFR's on a wideband... but it won't be tuned specifically to my mods so I can't assure the timing will be correct.

Now, I want to breakin the engine (1000 miles, street driven, w/o boost) - how am I going to do this without a proper tune? I don't want to toast another motor...

ANyone have suggestions...?

Thanks

Try the PFC forum, what you are asking for is a simple PFC setup that most any decent diy tuner can take care of. For break-in and even initial tuning you should be able to setup a conservative map starting with the base PFC map then make minor changes to injector size, idle settings, ignition split and advance, map sensor settings, cooling fans, etc.

We could just adjust your PFC to support the injectors you have...

regardless of what map you use darren, watch running "superrich" as it tends to wash the oil film off of the rotor housing walls. this lead to extrtemely accelerated wear on the houseings and apex seals. if in doubt run premix at first until you get the AFR's a little closer to what they should be.
