Pegasus racing sells a $30 plastic adapter that fits one of their $18 sock filters.

It is probably the way to go.

This is the one I bought- Jay Racing

This sock filter "for" the '044 is just a universal sock filter stuck on an -AN fitting that happens to have the right thread to go into the pump and the right outside diameter for the sock filter to clamp onto.

The way it is set up from the vendor the pump will suck the bottom of the filter up against the fitting and block flow- has happened to several people here.

Here is how I addressed the problem-

A word of caution on mounting the '044 in tank-

I originally installed the '044 with an -AN to barbed hose nipple adapter to rubber fuel line hose clamped to the tank outlet pipe.

It split the rubber fuel hose at the clamp from the high pressure ballooning the rubber line and having the hose clamp cut into it- lost an engine.

I changed it out for a stainless metric hard line adapter (Swagelok) swaged onto the tank outlet pipe to threaded -an fittings to the pump.

Sorry I don't have pics, but it is for FC anyways so won't help with the details.

I did have to cut the pump bracket off above the pump because of its large diameter and bolted the bracket back to itself offset with some fuel safe foam between to dampen vibration and have the correct offset.

Cut off the 90 deg bottom that cradles the stock pump and hose clamped the pump
directly to (foam dampened) bracket.

Solid threaded -AN fittings (with threadlock compound) hold pump in place vertically and the hose clamps keep it in place to eliminate horizontal stresses and vibration.

the 044 is an inline pump. i think you're referring to the 040 in-tank.

No, we use the '044 in tank with the addition of a "sock" style inlet filter as shown in the pics.
