Boost Creap

As I understand it, boost creap occurs when boost reaches a preset level at "x" rpm (usually well below redline) and then boost continues to increase uncontrollably, above the initial settling point and preset level.

The cause is usually do to an inadequate wastegate or inadequate area for exhaust gases to bypass the turbine wheel.

Is this simply an issue of matching the proper wastegate specs to the turbo. I have been looking at a few cars for possible purchase, which seem to suffer from this issue. Is it basically poor planning and lay of the turbo wastegate system?

Thanks

More like wastegate too small for application...
If the whole wastegate system (i.e. y's and pipes) is designed efficiently, then the WG is too small.
What's an efficient WG pipe system?

If you're talking about the stock turbos, the wastegate was designed with some backpressure from the Catalytic converter, and if removed, you free up a lot of backpressure, and now the wastegate is too small.

Pull the turbos, and Port (Open Up) the wastegate, or suffer possible/definite detonation, and loss of motor....

Man that book is godly. I read that thing cover to cover, absorbed a shitload of information. Although he really doesn't get into standalones and whatnot, and really only talks about some really ghetto 80's HKS AIC's and fuel controllers.
Theres still alot of **** I don't understand, but I just keep on reading it trying to pick up new ****. Great book.
