Best Engine to Start With

I currently have a streetported '76 Rotary Pickup 13B, and I've decided to go turbo. Here are my engine options, what are some of the pros/cons:

1. Keep my early 13B 4-port and use FC Turbo rotors. Use a custom IDA-style intake with injectors in the throttlebody & an EFI plenum. (cheapest alternative, I think)

2. Used 13B Cosmo engine & intake. (more expensive)

3. Used FD engine & intake. (most expensive)

I plan to use a cast iron HKS exhaust manifold with external wastegate designed for Turbo II (FC) cars.

Why? What makes it better? Can I modify the others to achieve the same?

I believe alot of people like the RE and think its the best bet because of the large port sizes stock. You would have to port the hell out of 13BREW irons to start with the same size ports as you would have with stock RE ports. And then, you can port the RE's to a size you cant on a 13BREW. I believe the RE is the best to start with as well.

13b-re or 13b-rew

Sorry for asking such a newbie question, but whats the difference between the 13B-RE and the 13B-REW?

the re came in the cosmo and had larger intake ports. The rew came in FD's and it has large exhaust ports, but smaller intake ports. The best is to use the housings from the rew and the intake plates from an RE. Im just there are other little differences too though.

What about the intake manifolds? I read on the HITMan's site that the B-REWs had a better-flowing intake setup. If true, would this offset the port size differences?

The ports on the intake manifold on the RE are larger, and so is the throttlebody. As you have been using the early 13b, the engine mounts for the Re are near enough in the same place, where as the REW mounts are totally different.

I'll add another vote for the RE option. That is going to be a good place to start and end that project. If I remember correctly the RE not only has larger intake ports, but aren't they equal size as well where as the REW intake ports are two different sizes?
