back pressure numbers

is it better to check readings prior to turbo or after?
also what numbers are accepted as the "ok" average?

Both are important. What is ok depends on your intentions. Sorry to be vague, but more info from you would help.

Im sorry for not putting enough info, im running a 3" dp on my td61 with 1.00 ar divided t4 housing. Divided hks manifold. Im getting high egts @15 psi so was thinking of maybe checking back pressure.
Seen 1800-1900*f pre turbo on 93 with m2 pre turbo and m10 post straight water injection

Post datalogs showing AFR, timing, exhaust backpressure, and boost pressure.

if your AFRs are in the ballpark your timing is probably retarded. you are firing out the exhaust.

you shouldn't be generating much more than 1750. are you sure your EGT setup is properly calibrated? what EGT system do you have?

Is your HKS manifold the cast one?

If so we have identical setups apart from my 3.5inch DP. (td61 1.0 A/R, cast manifold,15psi) I am not monitoring EGT's so I cannot compare that however maybe you can post a dyno and your timing/INJ map.

I dont have a working laptop soni cant post my datalog. I havent checked back pressure yet so I have no numbers. Im using the same egt bdc has howard.

Might have to double check my base timing, is there a way to read tdc looking thru exhaust ports? I have manifold off now since im getting turbo rebuilt.

"double check my base timing"

that would be at the TOP of my list.

buy some clear plastic tubing that will fit the lead plug hole, neck it down to 1/4 I D w other clear plastic tubing. construct a loop. fill part of the loop w ATF.

move the motor back and forth around what you think is TDC. find the center, you have found TDC. mark it on your pulley at the pointer.

work it w your timing light.

you may find your EGT setup paid for itself.

Google "manometer." You are basically using fluid displacement to see when the combustion chamber stops getting smaller and starts getting larger. That peak is TDC.

Maybe you have a bad leading coil ? Egts are way too high as mentioned, sounds like they are reading accurately too if you already smoked that turbo.
