asking all apexi rx6 single turbo owners for help!
hey guys,
i have been having some problems with the vacuum lines that i am supposed to be hooking up. I have tried a bunch of different ways to hook them up, but cant seem to get it working right. The car will only boost to 2 pounds at full throttle, and it sounds like the wastegate is bleeding off the rest, like a loud gurgling noise. If any one can help me out with the vacuum lines they hooked up it would be most appreciated, or if anybody has any ideas about what could be going on. I think telling me the lines you guys hooked up would help the greatest.
thanks
brad

Where are you running the vacuum lines out to from the wastegate? And do you have a boost controller? Since it has a 10psi spring go simple first and run your wastegate port line right to manifold vacuum/boost.

Is the WG leaking under idel? That WG is a bitch to setup. Make sure the valve guide is seating correct on the flange. Dont use your boost controller untill You have it working, just hook up the WG to a vac source untill You get it working. Mine did everything from overboosting to doing what Yours is doing. 2 PSI sounds like something else may be wrong, even with mine leaking i was able to build lots of pressure.

You need to run the wastegate vac line straight to a vac source for now, and see if your making the spring pressure (10psi ussally).
Just disconnect the ProfecB for now and see if the wastegate is even working right. If it is, we can try to firgure out whats wrong with your ProfecB install.

thanks for the replies,
i disconnected the profec b, and ran a line from the side of the wastegate and tapped into the manifold where the line comes out for the blow off valve. Then i ran a line from the top of the wastegate to charged air, right after the turbo to a nipple on my intercooler pipe. still have the same response, it will boost to about 4 pounds now and still have the loud gurgle like the wastegate is open all the time. I beleive the wasgate is stuck for some reason, when i first put the kit on i forgot to hook up any line to the top of the wastegate and ran it like that for a while, not knowing i had to hook up a line there, could that have done somthing to the wastegate to have it stick open or somthing? I am going to take it off right now and take it apart, i am not very familiar with external wastegates though, but i will see if anything looks out of the ordinary. any ideas or tips on what i am looking at will be appreciated.
baddog, I dont know if i will be able to make it tommorrow, i will pm you later on tonight if i get anything accomplished, then tommorrow if i can make it over to columbus. thanks for your patience tony.

No sweat.
I think you picked out a good career, mech. eng! Tear that puppy apart and rebuild her!
Schedule gets tight next week, but I'll always have weekends and late nights.

Connect the compressor outlet to the side port on the wastegate. Your present connection where the BOV connects is not right. See the AVC-R thread for a diagram.
The top port on the wastegate will hold the wastegate shut when pressure is applied. Don't connect it to anything if you want to run the spring pressure.
Once you are running spring pressure, get an electronic boost controller and hook it up using the diagram that is included with the controller.
I think you have a leak before the turbo. Perhaps the wastegate is stuck, or you are missing the valve seat, or you have the gasket between the valve seat and wastegate, or the pre-load is adjustable but not set correctly.

thanks max,
I decided to check all my connections after you said there might be a leak, and found that my intercooler pipe was not tightened too well going into my interooler. thanks for your help guys! now if i could only figure out how to keep the boost down to about ten. do i need a new spring in my wastegate? or is there some other way? i have the boost controller all the way down and am still boosting over 10, closer to about 15. thanks again

the stock wastegate for the turbo kit comes with a 1bar spring. this means you will not be able to run less than that without replacing the spring. Here is the problem... I have called apexi and the kit comes with the lightest spring available. However, this was a couple of years ago and I just got used to driving the car on 14.75 lbs of boost as a minimum. you might give apexi a call and see if they have come out with a lighter spring since then. hope this helps.
