Apexi IHI Rx6 Turbo

Savanna Rx-7
all of the RX6 are made by IHI, they are an OEM manufacture for various machine components. apexi just slaps their name on it.
look at the castings and search for numbers, compare said numbers to websites to find out which size you have. the model with the smaller hotside was designed for ca18, sr20, mitsu etc. piston motors, the larger hotside one was for rb26/2j/13bt/rew
the RX6 with the smaller hotside will choke your engine to death and cause you to have elevated ex temps etc. ask me, a friend tried a rx6 from yahoo japan on his rew and found out the hard way.

chris at RX7.com did the first tune and now a guy by the name of Ross that works here in virginia beach did another tune. he was recommended by another RX-7 owner here and he used the Datalogit and a dyno. So he seems like he might know what he's doing

thats odd.. you should be able to at least get at 390 to the wheels with a streetport. I had alot of help here and it paid off. When i converted to RX6B and got a properly tuned, the first Dyno hit only 390whp at 325 wtq at 14.5 psi and 2nd dynotune i hit 406whp at 330 WTQ at 16 psi and my mods are almost the same as yours. I know my car is capable to push more but ill probably need a dual FP set-up to push it up there + im happy with the results and its enough for a street car

Did you do a full mechanical diagnostic on your car before the tune? Maybe something else that isn't related to the turbo/engine is wrong. Also, what type of dyno did you get those numbers?

it was a dynojet dyno...not sure which one,but it's an awd/rwd dyno. and no I did not get a full diagnostic on it. and over the weekend i actually had a good boost spike. i have my avcr set at 1 bar and it spiked to 1.35 bar. so somethings definitely wrong.

Hi, I've been searching a lot about my IHI turbo and it seems it's a little different from what i've been reading.
can anyone help me identify what turbo kit did my turbo came from? because I was told it's an evo 8 isamu kit. anyway here are the specs.
SPEC: VA490030 9805
SERIAL No. RHX6 27001C
it has an embosed RX6D on the center.
and embosed on the exhaust housing near the flange is P27F
thank you

Less to add new information and more to add minute credence to anecdotal evidence, I ran an RX6B for a couple of years with a mild Pineapple street port (stage 2 oil mods), 14 lbs., and ~380whp, 93 octane pump.
Used it for street, autoX (usually at 8 lbs.), and road course, so it was driven responsibly but pretty spiritedly.
I was incredibly pleased with the response and power for my particular applications. As always YMMV per application and use/abuse.
I'm not sure what became of things after I sold the car, but my understanding (through the grapevine, of course) was that the car was totaled long before the engine or turbo went.
I miss that car.
With any luck, I'm no more than 18-24 months away from doing it all over again. At this juncture, unless I were to come across an even quicker spooler (even sacrificing a little power), I'd consider it, but otherwise, I'd do it just the same.

well i know ever since i've had the car the exhaust temps have been high. above 700c and i can't really get on it or it's shooting to 800c and that's not good at all. so i may have a smaller hotside, will check today. thx again

I have a rx6 on my fd, check at the bottom of the turbine seat, were it mounts to the manifold, Your looking for a cast mark P27. Only the rx6b kit for the rotary uses the P27 turbine. The kit for the evo, sr20 and rb26 use the P20 turbine, rb uses two. The AX53B60 and AX53B70 are internally wastegated and AX75F82 Is used for the big power cars making around 650hp, recommended for the supra. They make universal kits but the only one that uses the P27 is the rx7.

also, not sure who posted it, but the rx6 is rebuildable. Any and all of the parts from the rx6 can be purchased thru an ihi dealer as long as you have a part number or can show the piece(s) you need on a diagram.

Just bought a car with the Apexi RX6 setup. Not sure of the turbo specs. However, it is a very fast spool up--better than my BNR stage 2. I have not dynod it yet, I'm estimating about 400 horses based on my ability to spin the wheels in the first three gears and my former FD had 360 horses at the wheels and was no way as fast.

max power for RX6B
I researched on how much this single kit is capable of (power) and concludes that you can make 500 to 550whp on pumpgas

that is not the rx6b its the ax75f92 not a rx6b, the turbine on the rx6b can not support more than 475-500 hp, f92 is a much larger turbo and is capable of 650-700 hp range, Different turbo.
