t3 is way to small for anything more than a stockport 12a.

What kind of motor are you running

go for a full to4 turbo then.

which turbo specifically depends on the power you are looking for and where you are looking to make that power. Ie Bottem end, or mid to top end.

looking to boost 10-12 psi, need the power to be at about 4000-5000 psi
and this is going in a 73 corolla, so space is limited.

how much power are you wanting to make?

for that much boost you could use an hybrid S4 or S5 turbo. or a small full T04.

go with a upgraded S5. you should get really fast spool and you can get 300-350 easy with a BNR stage stage 2 or 3

Actually, I have been thinking of getting this exact turbo for my car (FD). You can get a Garret T3/T04E with a 60 trim wheel and .82 AR for $549 from CheapTurbo.com.

I know everyone yells, "You can't run a T3/T4 on a rotary" and for big HP, they're right. But for 300 rwhp, I think it would be fine. I know the T3 exhaust housing is small, but does anyone know how restrictive it would be at 10-12psi with the .82AR?

I've considered getting it for a few reasons:

1)My FD is my daily driver, and I don't need 350rwhp. I want something that's responsive, yet will still get somewhat decent mileage. With a T3/T4, I could easily stick with the stock injectors and my cosmo pump.

2)I've seriously considered getting a true T04, but I see so many cars and have read about so many on the forum, that are running big turbos, big injectors, Tial wastegates, 1600cc injectors, and are still only making 320whp. Seems like a waste of money, though I do realize it's a tuning issue more than anything else.

3)It'd be a cheap set up. With an internally wastegated turbo, cast manifold, tial blow off valve, all the fittings, and piping, it would only cost about $2000 with all brand new stuff. I rather pay that than get my twins rebuilt again.

Bring on the yelling. I welcome all comments because I would like to know what everyone thinks. Remember, this is NOT a race car/drag car. Daily driver I would *like* to get decent miles out of.

I'm basically just thinking out loud because I've never heard of anyone give a first-hand experience with a set-up like this. Everyone just seems to repeat it CAN'T be done. Maybe that's because it shouldn't be done, but then again, maybe it's not that bad for 300rwhp.

Check out the cheapturbo site for the HP club. There is a 13b with a T3 .82a/r stage 3 wheel, 60-1 .70a/r that made 400rwhp at 19psi. This was at 6400rpm. Motor was a 86 n/a. water/air intercooler. Stoped at 6400rpm because the injectors maxed out at that level.
Ran this setup for over a year at 15-22psi. Mostly at 19-20psi. Blew two motors in that time but were tuning/fuel issues at higher boost levels. Best time was 11.6 at 124mph, 2720lbs with me.
IMHO the T3 based turbo is good for a daily driver looking for 300wrhp. The only draw back in a T3 turbine is when you do want to upgrade, a differant manifold is needed. Cheapturbo sales a stage 5 wheel for the T3 turbines.

Gt35R at around 17 lbs on a 13b 4port large street port you should see around 420-30whp, you will see 15lbs@ 3400 rpm all of which is exactly what you are asking for. I have them in stock. If you wanted you can run all the way up to 29psi on this thing and be eff. and make a lot more power.great street turbo.
