any reason to go bigger then t04b?

90 turbo rx7, i will never use race gas and never go past 15psi on this t04b i have for at least a few years till i get good at tuning. This car is only daily driving, no autox or drag racing. I read every post about this turbo and the only question i have left is, would i have a better tourqeband using a gt35/40 turbo because i heard aspec maybe comin out with a gt35/40 with a t4 flange. My t04b is 1.00 a/r divided and .70comp. I just put in a rebuilt engine today and all i have left to do is to make a downpipe and intercooler piping. personally i dont think will notice a diffrence between the 2 if im only shooting for 15psi max. Please some opinions.

Thank you

Sooner or later you're going to want more power and will wish you would have went with something bigger. You have a lot of choices that work with the T4. If you are one of the few people that are happy with a nice broad power band only pushing 15 psi then you should be plenty happy with that setup.

Problem with the GT3540 that was mentioned is that this particular model is not really efficient under 15psi.
Through my experience with this particular turbo, some of the other options do make more efficient power under 15psi.
The 60-1 and T04E-60 come to mind.

Im currently running the to4b s trim and it feels good to 15lbs. I just ordered a T04e 57 trim though, like reted said the maps look very good for this one. You could also take your to4b later and by the H-3 compressor wheel which is good for around 450hp and have it installed on your to4b. just a thought.

You don't need to just bolt on another turbo to see good spool and HP gains.

Start optimizing what you have if you haven't already- swap, hone, gasket match the intake manifolds, do TB and shaft mods, minimize IC bends, pressure drop. Make sure your exhaust mani is divided longer runner. You will see an improvemnent w/ each change!

Are you looking for better response? Maybe a GT3540, or something similar, may be for you .

the manifold i have does have long runners and is divided, seemed like it came off a td06 25g turbokit , i bought it from some guy in japan. I was thinking that as well blue tII, such as getting the intake runners extrue honed etc.. and about what Ted said, gt3540 not being efficent under 15psi. 15psi is going to be my max, 13psi daily, maybe 15 if i can really tune it in.

i appreciate all the responses.. project almost complete.

Blue TII, what are the TB and shaft mods? And what do you shim your compressor clearance to? Barry
