Air Bypass Solenoid Valve? Needed?
I was polishing my spare UIM and removed what I thought was the intercooler mounds bolt holes which are the little stubbys on top of the UIM. After which I found out that the Air Bypass Solenoid Valve attaches to this.
For some reason I think I really do not need this but have incorporated it into my FMIC.
What ill effects would I have if I removed it now? I guess it supplies bypass air into the primary intake manifold. I am running an APEXi BOV with a Greddy VSPL.
Thanks for any input.

Air Bypass Solenoid and closed loop idle. Huh? The air bypass solenoid is ONLY used during cold engine startup for a 17 second duration in conjunction with the BAC. After that it isn't used for anything.
Oh! Closed loop *idle*????? Really! Come on now.

No, keep the bac. It means you no harm and helps a lot. The Air bypass solenoid will never be missed by you. The same can be said for the AirSupplyValve on a series four. It's on the back of the throttle body. Remove it also unless you have power steering...then don't.

The Air Supply Valve is on the BACK side of the throttle body where the throttle cables and linkage reside. Since you have power steering keep it. The next time you take your throttle body off go look for it. It's a solenoid with a two socket connector on it.
The AirControlValve is a totally different animal. We're not talking about the same part.
