Aeromotive A1000 Mounting

I was searching to find someone who had there A1000 with a sump mounted correctly below the sump itsself. I have found countless pics of the pump above the sump with radical bends. Does anyone have some pics of there pump correctly mounted below the sump as i finished the sump today and am looking for a good location to mount the pump.

Thanks
Marc

I know someone of you are running these pumps and they have to be gravity feed unless physics have changes in the last few decades, can someone inform me that it doesnt need to be gravity feed for some reason against my knowledge.
Thanks

I had one of those pumps , along with a sumped fuel tank . I found it was impossible to mount the pump below the sump , 'cause our cars are soo low down , I however managed to get it in line with the suction nozzle of the sump . I mounted it to a flat , rectangular piece of aluminum sheeting , I then mounted that onto the sumframe that holds the diff . in place , so its in the space between the front of the tank and the back of diff.

You don't HAVE to mount the pump under the sump as long as it's all setup properly. Keyword = Properly. The reason it's stated to mount the fuel pump under the sump is to allow it to be gravity fed, so there's a very slim chance the pump will be starved of fuel. Well, as long as you have fuel in the tank. Think of it this way, take something that will hold water, and drill a hole in the bottom of it. Attach a hose to the bottom of that object, and make a 180 degree turn going upwards with the hose. Now, pour a cup of water in the object. You'll see that the water drains into the hose, but there's not enough weight/water to push it out the other end. Now poor a gallon in there. You should now see water draining out the other end of the hose. However, once the water level gets low, it'll stop draining out the other end. However, keep in mind, the pump will be "sucking," so as long as the pump isn't mounted an extreme distance above the sump, it will have enough power to flow the fuel upwards. In other words, I wouldn't mount the pump any higher than 6" MAX above the sump. However, this may still shorten the life of the pump, but I doubt it really will as long as there's fuel running through the pump. It shouldn't have to work that much harder than a gravity fed pump, as long as it's mounted 6" or less higher than the sump.

Your probably not looking for this sort of solution, but this is what I came up with! Still have to complete my new tank. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/custom-gas-tank-%2Apictures%2A-448109/

Thanks for the reply's, I would go with a aftermarket tank but want to keep it legal for street tire class, and oyu need to keep the stock tank, and location. Marcel im finding it next to impossible, would you happen to have some pics of the box you setup, i was thinking of welding another box onth e bottom side of the tank and then attaching the pump to it so it was close to even wit the sump. Thanks for te replys

In case Marcel can't snap some pictures, i'll snap a few tonight to give you an idea of where you can mount the pump, and atleast keep it pretty even with the pump.

It looks like ifi put weld some studs on the bottom side of the tank and attach the pump to the bottom side it will be almost even with the sump inlet. Thanks for looking for pics.
