.85 T4 or 1.0 T3 w/T4 footprint on 500R?

Getting close to getting some cash so need rebuild ideas. The 1.06 doesn't fit well and it rubs under load. I was supposed to swap it for the .85 but that never happened. So I still have that choice or I could go with the flat T3 with the T4 foot print that RX7 store sells which should clear easily. The .85 is rounded but I am assuming it will clear since it's smaller.

Other ideas:
Install supercharged Jaguar engine.
Install supercharged GT-40 engine.

Corvette engine is nice but it doesn't make sense on a car that's mostly owned by Ford and using Ford rear end.

Really depends on the HP your looking for. In terms of turbos there are others out there other than the 35R that will give you good spool and make nice HP #'s. Really depends on your budget and goals.

Not changing for HP #'s. I have clearance issues with the 1.06 A/R. I offered to trade my 500R (only 1500 miles on it) for new 35R but no takers. I have 850/1300's and do not want to change to 1600's so i'm restricted to about 420rwhp.

I could go with HKS SS manifold anf Tial GT40R with v-flange instead of T4 but then i'd have to sell the complete turbo kit and I allready tried that. It cost me $5k, not selling it for $2k with only 1500 miles on it.

Would the Ford GT40 fit? Thought Ford motors design/width precluded this.

What do you mean clearance issues? The 500R is not a large turbo and you shouldnt have any issues. The GT40 is a larger turbo and not going to fit any better than the 500R, unless its a manifold issue that is causing the problem.

A Ford GT-40 Engine is approximately $36,000. I have to confirm with Ford racing if it is complete with the supercharger or not. I've spent $50k allready and still don't have an engine. I think the GT-40 would have been a much better choice. Mucher better route then a Corvette engine (assume it fits). It uses the same block as my F-150 (and mustang, etc). Ford and Mazda are now at the same dealerships. Mazda is mostly owned by Ford. It just makes more sense.

Yes, I have clearance issues with the 500R. Yes, it's the shoty manifold. Originaly it rubbed the intake manifold. Now with the spacer it rubs the engine bay.

Another solution is this HKS SS manifold which uses a v-band flange. I could mate that with a GT 35 (GT 42 is too big) turbo from Tial.

That HKS manifold and Tial turbo look really nice! I bet they cost som $$$ though. If you are only looking for 400whp why not go with one of the ball bearing t04s kits or something like that?

You could do the Apexi Kit too and I believe that keeps the airpump. If your manifold still doesn't fit, won't Aspec help you with that ? It was supposed to fit. If it doesn't, they should send you a completely updated one, that doesn't need a spacer. I know their later versions fit better. But you definately need to figure out a way to stop working with your current manifold.

Thanks for the help. I will keep the Ford GT-40 in mind for the future. Maybe I can find a totaled one. Ford Racing is east coast and I keep calling too late. I figure it would cost about $50k for the engine and supercharger installed new. I'm sure (forgot his name) spent well over that with his bored out LT-1 Corvette engine.

OK, .85 A/R T4 wins the votes so I will get one from A-Spec.
