hey...yeah i bought a fd abt a month ago...car was already single turboed...issue is that the car was missing a lot and the boost would drop...so i changed the plugs and the missings gone...after that i got an avcr to try n hold the boost up...i dont really knw how to work the avcr so i went to this tuner to try n up the boost for me...when he set it at .7 bar in the 3rd gear around 3.5k rpm the car backfires and the boost drops to .65 and then around 6k it backfires again n boost drops to .6....i think it might be the wastegate....any other possible reason why this cud be happening? thanks...

 

Do you have an ignition amplifier? What ECU do you have? Which plugs are you running.
The missing you are describing is worrisome. Don't let it do that. You could use more tuning.

if it is not holding boost to begin with do not try and add a controller (avcr). verify the gate is run correctly. Really sounds like you should get a compression test done as well to save you time. Verify the motor is fine then move on to ignition-fuel issues. after that is when I would worry about the boost...

 

aiite thanks for the replies...runnin stock ecu, stock ngk plugs...i see ur point guys but the prob is im one of the few 6-7 rx7 owners in my country...nobody knows anything abt rotaries here...just wanted to clear that out first :P...secondly there is a tuner here who i went to like i mentioned earlier...he also believes the problem might be with the wastegate...the missing issue is gone btw no missing ever since i got new plugs...its just this issue that when i set it on 10psi it backfires around 3k rpm and 6.5krpm...if theres something up with the motor then im pretty much done for cuz there is noone who can work on a rotary...any probs i have i have to work on em myself through rx7club.com im really confused here man need ur help...
