50mm HKS wastegate - Thread Pitch

><

I can't seem to find a fitting for the damn wg. Where did you guys fine the correct fitting for the wg to hook up a vac line?

It's looks finer than a 1/8 NPT.

i'm pretty sure it's an 1/8 pipe... that's what it was on my 40, anyway.

any hardware store will have the fittings.

It's 1/8 th BSP not NPT. It's a little smaller than pipe thread but the thread pitch is about the same. You will have to run a 1/8th NPT tap in the holes.

ah.... see i thought it was a bit smaller than 1/8 but figured it was metric or something.

You would think they could provide a banjo bolt and nipple like Tial or something for the amount of money you pay..........

When you buy the 'GT' series you get the fittings with it. I guess in HKS eyes the money you spent on the smaller wastegate is not worth throwing in the fittings.

They are only 1 TPI(threads per inch) differnce between the two and it will thread on with some difficulty. With the softer aluminum wastegate top cover it isn't as big a deal, but if both parts are steel good luck ever getting the fitting off(found out the hard way with an egt probe fitting on a downpipe).

Who carries BSP fittings? Let me guess,HKS where you have to take it bent over.

Mazda

Oil pressure transducer is also 1/8 BSP.

BSP is the "standard" in metric nations and it is the US standard system that is an anachronism.

it's a 1/8PT barb fitting with a 28 pitch treading
as what it says in HKS website.

Right, which is known as 1/8 BSP

other abbreviations BSPT, PT, KR R or Rc

In other regions known as

ISO 7-1
DIN 2999
BS21 (BS EN 10227-1)
JIS B0203

28 threads per inch
.38" OD
55 deg thread angle
rounded roots/crests
taper 3/4" per foot or 1 in 16 on the diameter

I found out all that looking for adapters for my Greddy temp gauge sender- Swagelok catalogue kept rererring to 1/8 NPT and 1/8 ISO. I was pretty sure ISO was same as BSP and sure enough the above stats matched up.

I just man threaded it with the aid of a wrench.

Tapping not required

Enough threads per inch
.38"ish OD
~55 deg thread angle
rounded threads
tapered large enough per foot or 1 in 16 on the diameter

works for me LOL

No it wasn't to stroke my "ego", for that I put up pics of my car

It was good factual info because I see how many people on here don't know the diffrence between 1/8 NPT American and 1/8 BSP as I myself did not before I bought my HKS GT 60mm WG and put AN lines to it.

If searching for an adapter or hose end w/ the right thread pitch ALL that info is useful because so many sites only list SOME of the specs and you have to decide if it is what you are looking for- as with my example of the Swagelok catalogue refering to is only as 1/8" ISO.

I wrote down the specs in my project notebook for reference...
