I'm telling you if you're looking for a long-term clutch and every plan on going over 500whp at some point, go with a Tilton flywheel and 7.25" twin-disc metallic disc clutch. You can buy new discs for $100, it's fully rebuildable. Ask 13B-RX3 where he got the flywheel from, I currently have his old one.

I'm running the HKS GD PRO Twin Disc on my car, the thing grips like a son of a bitch but only downside is that it's noisy and sounds like a bag of marbles when engaged lol. This is on a 344 rwhp / 294 lb torque @ 14 PSI (7000 rpm) street car application by the way.

I am b/w the act 6 puck sprung and unsprung. I like the smoother engagement and low noise of the sprung.the
Diff b/w the two is 514 vs 577 lb/tq. How much whp is 514lb/tq in an rx7? What about 577?

Attn Dick:
That's what it says in his sig.
GT42R
PFSupercars built and tuned Full Bridgeport
781 rwhp Q-116
589lbs of torque -All turbo-
9.95@138mph
1.41 60'
781whp is roughly 900 fly wheel horsepower.
589wtq is roughly 700 flywheel torque.
P.S. I can deadlift more then you IRL.

I have. just did it this weekend at the track.. At around 620rwhp and it started to slip top of 3rd and completely let go in 4th gear. this was a new clutch with about 800 miles but i guess you can say very abused miles. Act extreme PP with a unsprung 6 puck.

My friend maxed out an Act 6puck unsprung. He was pushing 612whp at the time. Now he Has a 4 puck disc, which he claims holds better. This was the clutch that i installed. I am in the process of breaking in the clutch although ACT says that a race disc like this one only needs a few hard slips and you are good to go.
The box said that this clutch is not for street use, but i don't feel it that uncomfortable nor particularly hard. AIming for 525whp. Hope it holds fine with a bunch of 8000rpms launches.

I think 500 is the limit for the ACT 6 puck race disc. I remember last year when I raced dj and his Ls1 rx7 the clutch was brand new and I only had 501rwhp at the time.. after 3 burnouts and then the race the clutch slipped really bad in 3rd and 4th. You can hear it in the video. I think you can get away with one pass or so but back to back abuse will make it slip. This past weekend I made one run with 497hp and it was fine, the next run i turned it up to 620 and it couldnt hold the power. So anything over 500 will kill an ACT pretty quick and eventually start to slip.

I just began to drive my rx7 with 4 puck solid clutch on stop and go traffic and it is really annoying. I can live with the harsh pedal feel but it is very grabby. There is no slippin, so it si difficult to get off the line in stop and go traffic. Other than that the clucth is holding up fine.

Running a Triple OS Giken Clutch now upgraded from the twin plate, its tranferring more of the power to the wheels now as the twin plate couldnt hold the power when I was upping the boost it was slipping at around the 130mph terminals runs

my cusco twin plate with ~15,0000kms on it started failing around the 370rwkw mark. slipped when boost came on. bear in mind this is with a BIG 'laggy' turbo so power comes on all at once.
HKS GD max twinplate now, no problems whatsoever - apart from removing the gearbox! What used to be a 1 hour job in and out, is now a 5hr one! (having to remove clutchcover thru the inspection holes and disassemble the locking rings to separate)

i went with the os giken twin dissc. as stated above but i got one for a reasonable price. the thing is that when you get these clutches the replacement for the disc is the same amount as when you would replace a act clutch so in reality you come out cheaper. Not to mention that it is driveable on the street & it last 10x longer (as in years)
