Question 35/40 owners w/ Greddy 2 Row

My project is almost done. The only thing I have to worry about is the tubing from the 35/40 to my Greddy 2 row. Curious what you have done or bought for this. Pics would be sweet but I'll take any input.

You will have to have someone fabricate a pipe to go from the turbo to the intercooler. We have a local shop that does the cutting and welding. Cost is around $300.

Call Truechoice and get a silicone elbow. It can handle the temps.

heh, my local guy will do a full set of IC piping, mandrel bent, for $200

$300 is a bit high, especially since he only needs one section of pipe

This all depends on which intercooler. For the greddy 2 row, the pipe sits to low to mandrel bend a pipe to that degree. It crushes the pipe. The guy that does ours has to cut and weld a steeper bend in the pipe. I agree that $300 is kinda high.

If you have the 2 row for the stock twins your trying to convert the core is pretty small. Its the V-spec core vs the R spec core on the 2 row for the single turbo. If this is the case sell the intercooler and buy the R spec version. If your actually looking for an Elbow to go from the Garrett turbo to the Greddy 2 row factory piping get the elbow from greddy T-78 kit. KD Rotary supplied me with the pipes to make it all work. http://www.vosko.net/photos/friends/...m/DSC00130.JPG

Unhappy

Well I did receive a V-spec 2 row with my "Power upgrade kit" that was designated for this single turbo application. I was told it would be fine to run this intercooler. What gives?
I WAS pretty stoked....
I thought I researched everything. Learn somethin everyday, I guess.

That intercooler is fine. Dont worry about it. I know people running 20lbs of boost thru it.
If the 2 row you have is for the single turbo then it will be easier to fab a pipe.

Thumbs up

Thanks for replies.

I like the idea of a T-78 elbow and weld the lower piping. Any clues where I could get one?

Nocab72- May end up going that route. I don't TIG weld but I'm checking locally for someone with skills.

I dont use a 35/40 but i just found that if i cut the stock tubing in the right places i could make it fit with out any welding and just using couplers to connect the pipe.

Can you elaborate on this please....I am about 75% sure I will get this kit this week...I have the two row also and don't want to go through the added expense of a $300 pipe.

doesn't this thing sit in the same place as the T-78? If so there are a few people who have hacked up the 2 row for twins kit and used couplers to join it...Brady Mahoney on this forum did it...at least I think he did..

I just took the pipe that was for teh stock twins and put it necxt to where it needed to be for my single and made a small mark where it needed to be cut. Took to some little muffler shop and the cut it for me. Total Cuts i made were 2 and have a pretty big section of the pipe left.

there are two pieces of pipe for the stock twins that's on the turbo side...there's the pice which comes from the cross over pipe, then there the piece which wraps around the rad and is bent into an S shape...

Could you possibly make a drawing and show which side you cut and where you cut it...Did you have to do any welding?

Here's a little pic of what the stock 2row fimc is like...

P1B1= Pipe 1 Bend 1 and so on and so forth

figured it would help to explain the cut and fitment better.

Hey David....is your FMIC for the twins? I have the greddy pipe that came with the T78 kit that helps mate the GT35/40 with an intercooler that used to be for stock twins. You can have that pipe. All you will need is a 120 degree pipe to go from the compressor outlet to this pipe. It would be indentical almost to the pipe that came with the Greddy T78 kit.

Here is a pic of the pipe....it is the blue kind of colored pipe. Now use your imagination and spin the compressor housing about 60 degrees counter clockwise and you will see the missing pipe that you will have to make.

Also, the GT35/40 sits about 1 inch or so further forward than the Greddy T78 kit.

I hope this helps.

Scott
