Question 3 BAR map Sensor, Which one?

For all you Single turbo guys that are running over 16 psi, what type of Map sensor are you guys using? what type of modifications are you doing to hook up to stock harness?

Thanks

yes the kit does come with a 3 bar....but I was hoping to just buy the solenoid and a gm 3 bar for a total cost of around $250...I would think this would work in conjunction with the PFC to control boost...just want to be absolutely certain and would like to hear if anyone had any issues going this route

Books, I too bought only the apexi boost solenoid and not the entire kit to use with my power fc. It controls boost just fine. You have to make sure you connect the correct wire to it. My motor is out right now and I forgot which solenoid connector you use. It is the one to the precontrol solenoid as this is the one that remains active when you turn off the sequential control. I can not remeber if it is the one with the white dot or the other that is the correct one. When you set boost on the commander/lap top, just make the primary and secondary numbers the same for setting 1 and then ditto for your other boost choice for setting 2.

As for the map sensor, I am going to change to the gm one also. I see no reason for it not to work with our setup. I was looking here for the part #. You have to make some changes in the power fc but that info is here also.

Mike

BTW, my boost curve was very flat with this setup. I was very happy with how it hit target boost and maintained it. I had no creep with my RX6b kit. I will see how it does with my GT40r when I get it.

Well, after doing a little searching, I found out that GM changed their 3 bar map sensor to a 2nd generation design, part # 12223861. From what I can tell, it takes a different connector than the 1st design gen. Anybody know if the calibration #'s for this unit have changed. I am refferring to the #'s that need to be inputted into the power Fc.

Mike,

thanks for the info, I am fairly certain the wastegate control solenoid is the one with the white dot...w for white and w for wastgate

Were you using a 3 bar when you used the Apexi solenoid?
