1rst gen turbo ?
Let me tell you my goal first, as far as HP i dont really know. But for now I have a 12A with 30,000 miles onit I want to turbo it after i install it in my FB. I will not port it just yet cause i just payed for it and it only has 30,000. I will send my old motor off and have it rebuilt and ported. but for now ill be runing it in a unported 12A with 3'' pipe from header back. Im guessing the guy who i got the car from put ford 8.8 rear end because the plate on the back says ford something. The plate is unreadable but a few words. But for the sake of im not sure lets say the rear end is stock. i also have a webber carb and intake waiting to be installed. I only want about 8-10 psi right now. Is this possible w/o porting?
What turbo is best to be used with my 83' 7? Im going to be doing a home made turbo setup so most parts will be JY finds. ill be geting all the shyt rebuilt tho. Any input will be great. thx for the help
PS is there a step by step on turboing a 83? I have made a home made honda turbo, and i can hook most of it up im just not sure about the iol feed and what hose to use for a BOV.

Randokuky,
welcome to the forum. First go to the 1st gen section and do a search on turbo 12a, and just turbos in general, there are a bunch of threads in there for the subject with tons of info. FYI the most common turbo setup for the 12a is a 13bt turbo and manifold.
just take a racing beat header flange for the 12a and weld it as a spacer onto the 13bt manifold (you need to cut the 'ears" of the monting flanges form the 13bt mani first) and it spaces the mani out jsut about right. plus the turbo is ideally suited for the smaller 12 a as a performance upgrade.
if you want to go further, get the 13bt turbo moddified into a hybrid with a to4b, or e compressor housing and a ported wastegate, this will allow up to about 300~330 rear wheel horspower if done with a properly jetted weber. since you are going the carbed route, make sure you get the pressure proof float for the weber.
in all honesty you would be better with a megasquirt system (a quick search in the 1st gen, or 2nd gen section will pull up days of data on that.
good luck,
kenn
