Question 1680cc injectors and rail install?

Is there something special that you are supposed to do to install the 1600cc injectors into the manifold? It feels like they are hitting the diffuser baskets and the rubber grommet is not letting the injectors fit into the hole. If anyone can help me ASAP, that would be awesome since I am out working on my car as we speak

Thanks,
Scott

You need to remove the diffusers.

yep. difusers come out. if you feel the seal is still not good after that. try using a small piece of 3/8 fuel line to aid in the seal of things.

Why do the difusers have to come out? The LIM difusers should work because of the second factory o ring that sits on top of the difuser. I am having a bit of problems with the primary difusers becuase of the injector tip hitting the plastic but I moved the oring down to seal against the difuser top. Could You Guys explain a bit more of what You did when You removed the difusers?
Keith do You have a picture of the injectors with the fuel hose on them to show us?

Basically the injector O ring will be the only thing sealing the injector to the LIM. You wont have any problems doing it that way.

i dont have a pic at the moment. i can take one but i am at work. both of my difusers in the secondary location were fuked anyway when i went to do it originaly. other cars were easy to take them out. if the LIM was off, the popped right out, if not, needle nose plyers did the job with a little PB blaster and some finesse as to not break them.
when taking out the difuser it will allow the tip as you said to seat further in. one trick you can do is to use the rubber seals that came off the stock primary rail. when you slide this O-ring over the injector it will seal the body of the injector to the LIM's bung. if you still feel this is not enough, like i said before, use a piece of 3/8 fuel line cut to about the size of the depth in the LIM. this will also give a good seal. i forget who it was that taught me that trick, but it was someone from this board. i have tried it on other cars and it worked great!

So more or less the secondary injectors just sit in the LIM injector hole without any sort of gasktes or grommets outside of the small o-ring gasket on the actual injector? That is how I have it, but it did not seem right since the injectors are a bit smaller than the LM hole. The Primary rail and injectors for me worked great. I just put in new diffusers and snapped the injectors into the rail and then pushed them down into the injecotr holes until they felt tight, I did have to use some shorter bolts and 2 washers on each post to make the rail bolt to the block.

Thanks,
Scott

use the fuel line trick or the OEM primary rail O-ring trick. it will help put your mind at ease.
